question/confirmation re: ping anser 1 becu putters --> any with sound-slot?

i have a MnBrz anser and keen to find a becu version with the sound-slot if they exist; however, i understand the only anser variant with a sound-slot is the anser 1. 

 

found a slotted anser 1 that has what appears to be the the darker/copper-penny becu patina (as opposed to the faint amber hue of MnBrz). i'll check/validate whether its becu with a magnet when i receive it...i fear i'll find that it's just the common MnBrz anser 1 with a sound slot just like i already have.  😕

 

can anyone weigh in whether a mythical anser 1 in becu that *also* has a sound-slot exists?

Ping has never made a production model of the Anser in becu with a sound slot.  Even when they released the Scottsdale Anser remakes in the late 90s (which came in becu, beni and mgbrz), the only one with a slot was the mgbrz.

 

The Anser in your picture is a standard manganese bronze one.  The patina on these varies quite a lot depending on what conditions they have been exposed to and when they were made.

My old Ping Anser is very dark patina like the one in the picture.  It has a sound slot.  A magnet will stick to it.

yep...its MnBrz...a magnet will *not* stick to BeCu.

Yes they did and I had one in my hands with a sound slot. Probably 1978 or so.

also, in parallel, i will look into having the slot added to an existing anser 2.

They are called KBI Ansers and are sought after collectors items. About 50 nickel and 200 copper were made. Good luck

Not as pricey as the Ping KBIs which will cost you several thousand bucks if you ever find one - they were made for employees of the KBI company and not released to the public so are holy grails of Ping collecting.
