Which club do you consider your weakness?

Driver for sure. Has cost me many bad rounds and lost balls. Hitting 3 or 4 fairways with it on an average round just isn't good enough. Next is 3 wood, good for tee shots only.

Hence both are being replaced with a 2 hybrid

Bag 1: 2h: Srixon ZX4h: TM M1 ('17) ; Irons: MD Golf 7i & 9i, Wedges: RTX full face 52o & 58o; Putter: Spalding Pro Flite

Bag 2: 3h: Nickent 3dx; 3i: Cobra One-Length utility; 7i: TM M4; 8/9i: Inesis 500; Wedges: AW: TM RSi (50o); Cleveland RTX full face 54o; RTX 588 60o; Putter: Ping

At the moment, it's my wedges. Particularly my 54. As someone mentioned earlier, distance control is my main issue with it. I would say, though, that the driver is very close behind (if not tied). There's no telling where that thing is going off the tee. But looking at my arccos data, the argument could be made that I struggle with tee shots in general as my average distance is approx 5-8 strokes worse than my overall handicap.

Me too. And it shouldn't be. I have SL clubs so my 4h should be the exact same swing as every other damn club.

At 37.5", the clubs are the same length as the 9i of my old set. So I should be able to just perfectly hit the 4h if I "just swing like a 9i".

But I see that clubhead down there, and I get the idea into my mind that I'm swinging for distance, and I just try to hit too hard, and it usually ends badly. I start swinging like it's a fairway wood, when I should be swinging like a 9i.

I had visual issues with certain hybrids, swung for the fences with them every time, just couldn’t stop myself. Then I got my G15’s which have the appearance of an iron. I know it’s a mental thing with me but now because I “see” an iron when I look down, I swing like an iron for control. It’s solved my problem with hybrids.

Driver - Only club in the bag that has a big 2 way miss. Has for years.

I never got along that well with my M1 440, I liked my R11 better. Both would smack me with an out of the blue slice too regularly. Based on the glowing reviews I got a Cleveland Launcher HB, that was the end of my driving problems.

I feel my gear is at the point where it's me not the club, so the jocular answer of whatever one is in my hand applies, lol. However the ones that give me the most problems recently have been the 6 iron or my sand wedge. The wedge was on chips, and I was using it pretty well at times so it's a technique issue. I know it's probably a technique issue with the 6 iron too, but it's almost like it's in my head at this point.

Honorable mention goes to the putter but that's definitely my head, and not committing to the putt, decelerating through impact and leaving it woefully short.

Generally driver gets me in the most trouble. If I get my drive in play then generally my other clubs will get me up around the green and how well I score depends on my chipping and putting. But if I'm in trouble off the tee then potentially big scores come into play.

Driver right now. I've just been in a driving funk since getting rid of the G400 Max. Driving went from a strength to a 2 way adventure.

The other club is the 5-iron. Love my 4H.  Like my 6i. But just not confident with the 5-iron.

The driver is the bigger issue though. Gotta drive to score.

The putter.

I'm not a bad putter. I've never had the yips. I'm just average generally, and never made anything close to the number of putts I should have made from 8 to 15 feet.

More than once I've hit 18 GIRs - or better - and walked off the 18th level par or worse.

Interesting as I have the same irons as you. Only had them a few months but the 5 iron has become one of my favourite clubs. It is the same loft (24°) as my old 4 iron, which I was never especially confident with, but this club has been a revelation. It also gaps perfectly with my 23° hybrid. With the length of my course and my driving length I seem to find myself in 5 iron range (170-175m) quite a lot. Plus I have two par 3's that are about that range too depending on tee/pin placement and wind direction.  If I'm in between distances I prefer to hit the 5 iron vs my hybrid. The hybrids are great but a big miss can be disastrous whereas misses with the 5 iron are not usually too bad.

Yeah really can't believe what a revelation these ZX5 irons are with modern 'distance' lofts.

M1 440 has been the best driver I've had for years. It's kicked newer drivers out of the bag, but will never be as good as the older R series drivers for me (r7 425 and r9 standard were my favorite).

I was going to call BS on the 18 GIRs or better - like how many holes are there on your course?  But then I realized you were likely talking about hitting Par 5's in 2.

I need spend my some with it and get over the mental hurdle with it. My 5-iron has always been a mental line of demarcation in my bag.  I am fine with my 4H.  LOVE my hywood...it has become my favorite club in the bag.  But give me a yardage at the 5-iron, especially when it's not off the tee and I'm not comfortable.

Absolutely the putter - when you average 33-36 puts per round it's a killer.  I'm currently a 7.5 hcp and would be at least 3/4 lower if my putting was better.

The sad thing is it's actually improved over the past few months 🤪
