Masters Ticket Scalpers

Recommended Posts

Inventory continues to go up; big drops in low price for TUE & WED, back to where it was in late NOV.  Now that we are within a month of tickets shipping I bet we'll see a downward pricing trend with continued increases in inventory.  That all goes out the window if Tiger somehow remarkably announces early he's playing, but we probably don't get an announcement from him either way until the last minute, as usual.  I wish he'd announce early that he's not playing, then prices will drop significantly.

Monday inventory WAY up.  TUE drop in inventory; probably folks buying the cheapest 6-10 tickets.  And WED inventory WAY down; either sellers pulling 22 tickets (doubt it) or more likely, buyers paying too much too soon.

  • 2 weeks later...

Oh, they will start coming down, particularly once folks have their tickets in hand in a couple weeks when they ship and people list even more tickets.  MON and TUE low prices are down, total inventory up.

At Wednesday's practice round, will they allow a DSLR with telephoto lens (Canon 80D with 70-200mm lens)?

Not sure why this was posted twice, but the answer is still yes, we took in something very similar - I used a camera bag as my allowed "bag" as well, easily met their criteria. No worries on the camera.

Call me Debbie Downer. Attending a practice round a neat experience but the value is nowhere near $1,500 IMO. And that's assuming the weather is sunny and dry which is no layup.

It's true that you don't really understand the shots the players are facing until you've walked the course. That would be the main reason to go on a practice day if you've never done it. I guess buying schwag would be another reason. But to pay over a grand for that is nuts IMO. I guess individuals are competing with corporate buyers, just like the Super Bowl etc.

Yep that’s who ruins the majors, all the corporate tickets given as bonuses.  Then we the fans whom appreciate the art of the game, we suffer.

its only going to get exponentially worse going forward.

Tickets still haven't arrived, so scalpers still getting top dollar.  Total inventory dropping by roughly 20 tickets for all 3 days, yet the cheapest ticket buckets remaining relatively stable.

I’m headed down Friday for the weekend with no tickets - hoping to get in for just a few hours either day. Thank you for this thread and please send any more stories and insight. Would love to connect with anyone who’ll be there solo too. I will update after the wknd with my experiences. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Any other tournament, you're right.  But most people are paying to be able to walk the grounds.  Nothing to do with "learning the shots they hit."

Whether being able to access the grounds of ANGC is worth that much, is certainly a question, and likely not one I would answer in the affirmative for myself, but that is why people are paying here.  The golfers and the practice is quite secondary.
