Is anyone surprised? If they were fully made in the USA I'm sure that would be a massive part of their advertising

Wonder what the price would be if companies forged and/or cost if done in USA? Just the cost on the EPA approved factory would be mind boggling.

I thought everyone knew this. They are designed in house, not open source.

Well maybe but he doesn’t come right out and say it. I see why companies do go overseas to make the heads and shafts.

What company makes heads here besides Artisan? Ping?

And now you know why most manufacturers are so backlogged. PXG seems to be in better shape than most, so they may get their parts by airfreight instead of cargo container.

You’re right.

They stopped putting the Made in the USA label on shafts a few years ago.

My guess is they are more flexible with inventory due to Parsons being the benefactor and not publicly traded. So they probably had more stock all along and operate on higher turns.

Not that i care, i bought me some PXGs!

Ping isn't public either, and they have massive issues.  But as I say in each of these threads, PXG does like 10% of what the main players do, so it's easy to fill orders when no one was really ordering your stuff before.

The EPA isn't the hurdle, it's the cost.

Cost for sure in a major difference, but I think Ping was the last hold out of making things here until they started going multi material heads or the likes, then had to go off shore for lack of regulatory issues (and cost).

Large part of the cost is due to EPA regulations. You can’t build a foundry in the USA without having meeting pollution controls compared to the Chinese and other Asian countries . It’s not all labor.
Case in point, my cousin put a catering banquet hall on his farmland . The cost doubled due to ever increasing regulations. It went from 1 million to 2 million dollars. That’s only a place that’s got to get rid off animal and plant waste . Can’t imagine what the cost would be for pollution control with the green energy costs.

New Balance does, and In New England, where energy costs are sky high. It can be done, if you choose to.

They also don't make the margins Nike does. The U of O campus doesn't fund itself, you know. Have you seen the new additions to that place? Almost as nice as LeBron's new building. 🤣

And there's the problem. Nike, and they're certainly not the only ones, takes advantage of cheap manufacturing in Asia that maximizes profits, while giving them a massive war chest to fund high profile endorsements and an advertising budget that's greater than the GDP of many countries. At least PXG seems to be passing on at least some of their reduced costs via Asian part sourcing to the consumer.

Yes, they could that. Just bypass freight carriers altogether.
I really have no clue what their supply chain looks like.

You may very well be correct.

I honestly have no idea. PXG is an expensive hobby for a rich guy, it's not like other OEM's.

Nike has taken evil to heights only surpassed by Facebook and it’s that war chest and the endorsements that keeps people looking the other way and buying their stuff. It’s a great example of the power marketing has over people and why product no longer matters like it used to. It’s also why DTC club makers struggle. You can make a better product and do all the right things as a company but without bribing a celebrity to tell folks to buy it you’ll only go so far.
