Can Someone Explain the Actual Differences Between These Kinds of Circle T's

Recommended Posts

I am by no means a putter junky or a Scotty Cameron Collector, I just really like equipment and want to get some information so I can eventually purchase one of these and be as knowledgable about what model I want so I can make the right purchase (I'm 21 so I have some time haha). Can someone please take the time and explain to me the difference between all of these Circle T models? They looks vaguely the same and I would appreciate it if a really avid Scotty nut could explain to me how each is different besides whether it has the jewels in the back or weights on the bottom (unless that really is the only difference)

- Circle T 009

- Cirlce T 009 M

- Circle T 009 SSS

- Circle T 009 M SSS

- Circle T SSS

- Circle T Newport 2

- Circle T Tour Rat

- Circle T Tour Rat 2

I'm super interested in the 009 models specifically because they seem to look the best to me I just don't know if I am biased or whatever. Any info would be awesome

Some of those are models and some are not.

009 - Tour version of the Newport, rounder and softer bumpers, a hair wider than the Newport, deeper cavity.

009M - M is Masterful, I believe this is a hair smaller, even softer bumpers and Ive heard they run these on a specific machine. I may be wrong on this not a Scotty Expert myself.

009 SSS - An 009 made with Surgical Stainless Steel

009M SSS - 009M made with Surgical Stainless Steel

Circle T SSS - Not a putter

Circle T Newport 2 - A NP2 with Circle T markings

Tour Rat I - 009 with weights

Tour Rat II - CT NP2 with weights

Super Rat I - 009 with weights and a GSS Insert

Super Rat II - CT NP2 with weights and a GSS Insert

The list continues, TourType, TourType Timeless, Timeless 2, 009.RT, T22 FTUO, all the neck variations and some other things too. That's just 2 models really, best thing to do get on Instagram, follow a bunch of Scotty pages and there are tons and you'll learn. I'm not a Scotty guy they just show up everywhere image wise.

Circle T is not a model and, or, model name. A Circle T is simply a stamp that in recent years Cameron has used to mark Tour version putters. Before using a circle T stamp Cameron used a small letter T with no circle. And for the past 25 years Cameron has produced some Tour version putters with no T or Circle T al all. For the 009 model, which has been around for about 15 years, most have no T or Circle T markings.

What do you mean circle t sss not a putter? Or are you just saying that because it's called something else?

Circle T = "Tour Models"

SSS = Surgical Stainless Steel

So what's the model? It's the line and metal that's it.

I get that, for you're response for the circle t sss should have been stated based off your circle t Newport 2 response...

Definitely just OP was asking specific models and that's not a specific model but he did have other SSS models listed.

Here’s a video explaining the differences between the 009 and 009 Masterful

I find that I prefer the softer lines of my Santa Fe over the more square NP2 (both from ~ 1996/97) even though the NP2 seems to have more rounded edges than more recent versions.

What is old is masterfully new again.   Lol.

Great video but if you have an old 009 it isn't quite as sharp as that in the video. That is an unfinished head. The old 009s would be softened by hand versus the 009M is done by a machine. The 009M is done on a 5 axis milling machine.

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
- Lord Tennyson
