Best 3w this year… sim2/tsi2/epic speed…thoughts

While I'm not a fan of the sound, I love the performance of my Ping G425. I find the G425 to be incredibly easy to launch from the deck, great off the tee, and the adjustability, especially the flat setting, put it over the top for me.

I currently have a TSI2, but it’s about to be sold. it looks, sounds and feels good but I struggle to flight it consistently. 

 

There is a Sim2 Max on the way to replace it.

Was never a Cobra fan, but the Big Tour 3w has been a great surprise for me. I no longer fear the lefts when I hit 3w now & it's got some good pop as well.

Tsi3 surprised me and is staying in my bag. From the trackman fitting till now it's very straight. Had a rough start dialing in my tsi3 driver, it's going to be hard for me to move both out of the bag now.

I went with a SIM2 Max HL ( it's really a 4wd ) after trying all the majors brands.

I liked the Epic speed, but the stock shaft offering was  lame for me.

TSi2 was a close second to the TM, but the TM was longer and more forgiving for me.

I went from G425 to the Epic Max and settled on the SIM 2 Max as all 3 worked well but the SIM 2 gave me the best results from both the Tee and turf

While not mentioned on the list, PXG 0341 gets my vote.  Not the best sounding, best feeling, or best looking fairway wood but by FAR the straightest I have ever hit.

I like my TSi 2. It gives me a nice trajectory,plenty forgiving and good distance. It replaced a PING G410 that went a little too high for me and would spin too much.

Played the Epic Speed 15* for about 3 months and it was good, but couldn't get it as high as I wanted. I was flirting with the TSi3 15* for a while and pulled the trigger 2 weeks ago. So far it has been great and I'm able to flight it a bit higher when I need to.

I haven't hit a bunch beyond the TSI3 and the Ping G425 Max but both of those were winners for me. I don't hit 3w off ground much so tend to stick to TSI3 because its a cannon off the tee but G425 Max is as well and super forgiving. Couldn't quite get shaft dialed on the Max but I think w some hot melt to reduce spin / help sound it'd be unreal

I have the standard cobra radspeed 3 wood and like it a lot, does what I need it to. The biggest thing for me is that I have an irrational fear of scuffing the crown on a club a just spent big money on. The fact that the infinity face protects against this is icing on the cake.

For me none of the above but OG SIM Ti 5 wood turned down to 17 or 17.5*.  Best numbers both off the deck and low tee for me.

SIM2 Ti 3 wood was similar at 15* (seemed to launch higher and more spin) and made room in the bag for something else.

 

So I got an OG SIM Ti 3 wood set to 13.5* as an option for tight tee shots.

That’s a good one and I’ll throw in my none of the above nominee: Last year’s Mavrik Subzero. Best combo of low spin but quite forgiving, and the leading edge and sole shape are tremendous off turf.

Tsi2 is by far the most popular fairway wood worldwide - It's a wonderful blend of forgiveness, distance, and high launch with mid/high spin.

Another vote for the TSi2 for me.  Granted I play the 16.5* which obviously is a 4w, but you get the idea.  Stuck with my usual DI-7s and though it's a pretty bold statement, I think I can honestly say it's been the best FW I've ever played.  Looks, sound, flight....checks all the boxes

The tsi3 is pretty long for me. The SIM2 is good too but when I hit both on the screws the tsi is longer

I tend to struggle with FW woods, so the G425 Max have been a god send.  Off the tee or deck they are so easy to hit.

G425 LST for me. Tested against SIM2 and TSI3. Best dispersion by far.

Thanks guys. Couple days after posting this I played and hit sim2 ti on the button for strategy off a particular par 5 tee and absolutely hit the prettiest longest 3w I’ve ever hit for second shot into middle of green for nice eagle putt (made birdie) but the sim2 just ticks a lot of boxes 🍻

Yeah, I picked up a SIM2 Ti 3-Wood recently, and the early indicators have been fantastic!

Wish the courses weren’t buried under snow currently so I could get a true feel for it, but the rounds and range sessions I used it for were very promising.

another vote for the SiM2 Max 3HL...it's really good.  i haven't even looked at another club in that slot since i started playing it.

I play the Sim2 3 wood with RDX Blue 6.5, and OG Sim 5 wood with Diamana TB tx. I prefer the feel of the OG Sim fairways, but the Sim2 still feels good and preforms well
