Favorite brand fairway woods

Please compare the Sim Max 7 wood to any of the others.

Played them all most recently went from Cobras to Sim2 Max, but went retro back to the M6, 5, 7 and 9.  Awesome clubs, best decision I made.  The 9 was an experiment that stuck.  Both Sims are great too, for me just preferred the feel and playability of the M6's better.  They're hard to find but worth the search.

Fairways can be tough depending on what you want - dependably good are TEE fairways. Played the EX10 and ES220 - my son has my 220's while I fiddle with a 3/5 combo or a Tee only 3, and 4 wd setup. A good 4 wood or a 5 wood at 16.5 is usually more consistent and straighter than a 3 wood off the deck.

 

Many fwy are too large these days - take Mizuno - great looking wood but unless you are in the fairway or have high speed, don't use them. Big. I am playing with a Honma 4 and 7 and the 3 is surprisingly easy to launch. More compact yet forgiving and longish. Great feel. And then there is Epic Speed - not too big, forgiving, I found them slightly draw biased, maybe it was the shaft. But attractive, great feel, long.

 

Oh, and if you want a square face, compact 7 wood, I'd suggest the TR21. The Srixon is also compact.

I’m an open book when it comes to a 3 wood but I’m generally after a non gloss matte finish and larger head.  My last 3 fairways have been the G410 and G400 and G25.   I had a brief run with the Adams XTD before that.  I’m focused on it for the tee ball.  Super forgiving head to find the fairway at 275 but has to fit my eye.  The Cleveland gives me the look with the hibore step, explains why I like TM drivers so much with the paint break.  When they removed the turbulators on the G425 it looked too normal lol.  So on with the Cleveland.

BTW look no further than my 3 wood.  Great profile and has the rails.  Was very fond of the original Mashies.

Been Using Taylormade fairway wood for a while and I really like them! I consider doing a full bag swap to Titleist just for the look, but took a while to get comfortable fairways in general.

Touredge, xcg3 in 13*.  Its just money for me, in bag 5 seasons now.
