What is Your Dream Bag

No idea if this question has been asked but to be honest I don't really care, I'm super bored and just want to spark discussion and see what your guys' dream setups are

Pre-Requisites

- you have unlimited money

- if you are a lefty and the club was only made in right-handed, you can still choose the club for your setup

- give a brief explanation as to why the clubs you chose are in your setup (Nostalgia, Favorite Player Uses It, Career Low Round w/ It in the Bag, Hit a Hole in One w/ the Club, etc.)

just trying to have a fun conversation about equipment and ask questions that I myself would love to be asked but I don't have enough people in my life that I can talk about these things with lol

My Dream Setup

Driver: PING G400 9° w/ ACCRA Tour TZ6 65 M5 | this is the driver I currently have in the bag and I have never been happier w/ a driver

3-Wood: 2017 TaylorMade M2 Tour 16.5° HL w/ Mitsubishi Diamana D+ Limited 80-TX | I am a massive Brooks Koepka fan and have been wanting try out this club since he put it in the bag. So bummed that it only exists in right handed

Utility: Nike Vapor Fly Pro 3-Iron w/ Graphite Design Tour AD DI 95-X Hybrid | massive Koepka and Finau fan and I feel like this club has to be amazing if they are still playing today 4 years after its creation. Again, super sad it only exists in right handed

Irons: Cobra Greg Norman Signature Tour Forged (4-PW) [idk what shafts i'd play, would need to get fit for them] | super classy looking iron that I feel like would just be cool to have in the bag and be a good enough ball striker to play them. Pretty sure they only exist in right handed though

Wedges: Artisan Wedges (50°, 55°, 60°) w/ KBS 610 Wedge 125g S+ | these wedges look absolutely beautiful and the whole process of getting fit and having them made just for you seems super awesome. Again, so sad they only make them in right handed and they have no intentions of making lefty products anytime soon

Putter: Scotty Cameron Circle T 009-M w/ LAGOLF TPZ Putter One05 | would be dumb if I didn't include a Circle T in the dream bag. This putter is absolutely gorgeous and I hopefully will have it in the bag one day

I know I have unrealistic expectations for the Haywood MB's, but if they perform half as good as they look, that could complete my bag.

I have 5 putters that I need to do a test of and see what actually works best. I've been using the Nike because I don't have to bend over and pick my ball out of the hole. 🤣

But I honestly feel like my bag not only looks good, but plays well above my skillset. That's all I've ever wanted out of my clubs, not to be a limitation. Right now they aren't.

<edit> although I always wanted a set of Miura baby blades.

I'm happy with everything in my signature below. Of course being a GolfWRX person I am obligated to tinker. Changes I would consider are as follows:

1) I'd like to try an Autoflex shaft in my driver

2) I do like the 1st generation T-100S irons and would consider making the change if given the clubs for free

3) A long neck Scotty Cameron blade would be nice. Must have a LAGP shaft 🙂

4) Wedges - I'm pretty set but if all the changes above were made I might as well get Vokeys and make it a complete Titleist bag.

I'm with Toybota. Dream bag is FULL of stuff I used to have, played well with, and somehow figured newer had to be better. It wasn't! Now I can't find the old stuff except at exhorbitant prices or months of waiting. Ex: Why in the world did I trade my Scotty Newport Terillium(sp?) for an Odyssey Rossie?

Driver: TaylorMade SLDR 430 12°

I currently use the 460 head, but would love to get a new 430 head.

3 Wood: TaylorMade 2016 M2 Deep Face 15°

I currrently have the 3HL head, but would love the 15° head. The best multi-purpose fairway wood ever.

1-PW: NCW Cavity Back (17° 1 - 52° PW)

Pretty selfexplanatory. Give me a 962b-ish sole with a slightly bigger head.

SW: Artisan Raw 57° Tiger Grind

Putter: Scotty Cameron Futura X5 Knucklehead w/ smooth face

I really like the Cleveland Elevado Plumber's Neck that I'm currently using, so a similar stick from Cameron would be sweet.

Tsi3 / best driver I've owned and doubt they can make it better

f3.05 with Updated tech  this was when prototype made it in play with no embargos.

Personally built titleist CB one-off like jt and Adam scotts. A classic CB with pronounced muscle like the 681 with tungsten and large titleist engraving only in the middle.

personally built hand ground vokeys with only large titleist on the back

Personally built cameron GSS welded long neck Newport Beach.

Well played indeed 😁

My choice...

Driver: National Custom Works persimmon driver by Tad Moore.  This would be 43" long (measured before gripping), with a 70-75g shaft (HZRDUS Black, NV ProtoPype, willing to explore), and at D7 swingweight, as measured with a 50g grip rubber grip.  Grip would be a GripMaster Roo or Perforated Master leather grip, not used for swingweighting due to grip gap.  Would like the clubhead as large as possible, as allowed by the heavier clubhead needed to meet my swingweight target (skipping the usual lead added).  As for clubhead shape, think M09T Jumbo as a guide.

3w: Another National Custom Works persimmon, by Tad Moore, 42" long in 16* loft, similar shaft & weighting as above, with another GripMaster grip.

Irons: National Custom Works blades, their version of Golden Ram Tour Grinds.  Sole grind to be similar to MP-33, or perhaps Maxfli Revolution black dot irons.  Shafts to be graphite, probably 95-100g range.  Open to exploring a range of possibilities; Steelfiber, Recoil, Paderson Ballistic, Fujikura Pro, MCA MMT, all would be considered.  Lofts would be 18* to 50* in 4* increments.  Once again, GripMaster grips.

Wedges: Like the PM Grind 19 58* I have, so something like that in 55* and 60* lofts.  Like me some bounce.

Putter:  not sure which direction I'd go, but it would be an 8802 blade style, or perhaps a new Tad Moore TM-2 or TP Mills TPM-1.

Golfball:  going old school here.  I'd commission someone to make a newly manufactured version of the old Maxfli HT-100 (urethane cover version, not the balata version). They were awesome.

I've got to somewhat echo a few others above in that I truly think my current bag is my dream bag except for the putter - either a fully custom Ping PLD or Bettinardi.

Working at a golf shop this year has given me great access and insight to different heads and shafts that I otherwise wouldn't have had.

Dream bag, maybe a bit harder/boring as a lefty since didn't get as much:

Woods - This one just going to tell the fitter I have a blank check, fit me into the best thing possible, no expenses spared. They know more than I do and endless money

Irons - I always thought the Miura Y-Grind were cool but they're pretty attainable for me now. But the ultimate would be a set of NCW's done by Don White in a CB/MB combo, with that sole style but a bit more different look to them. Also no one else would have a set like them in the world a 1/1 basically.

Wedges - Not many cool LH options out there for custom just NCW but if I did that I'd have Jeff McCoy grind them for me and just say the stars align and Artisan has LH wedges again they'd be the other option. Seeing as this is unlimited budget I get both and battle it out to see which is better for my game.

Putter - I already have a lot of cool putters, have to do something unique. Could do a Circle T but never really been a Scotty fan. A custom Bettinardi would be pretty cool especially doing a fitting there and going through the build process. I'd also put Artisan back in this category doing a full fitting with them, same for a Ping PLD fitting would also be cool but depends if they can build out what I'd want. This would definitely be the hardest category for me.

Lefty

Irons: 4i - 7i Srixon 585 / 8i - PW Srixon 785 - AMT Tour White S300

Wedges: 51° MD3 - 56° Glide 2 - 60° PM2

Putter(s): TP Mills Trad II - Lajosi Sensor - Kingdom Putter - - and more.

I 've been totally content with my bag several times and then I've  changed it. Because, I'm dumb.

But for the clubs I've had:

  • Driver: Callaway Great Big Bertha- It was the '90s, I was young and fitting consisted of taking a club out and seeing if you liked it. I just flat smashed this thing. People said the shaft was junk but it fit me just fine. In a close second place, Nike Vapor Fly Pro- I hit the longest drives of my life with that thing.  And I actually liked the dumb blue color. I still have the Nike but of course I play a Ping G400 LST most of the time.
  • Fairway Wood: Ping G20 4 wood. I could hit that thing low, high, left, right on command and always far.  It was the Excalibur of fairway woods for me. I felt  I could just think of a a shot and it would happen. Of course I traded it in for something I don't remember. Like I wrote above, I'm dumb. I've got a PingG400 now but it's just , meh.
  • Hybrid: I will carry a Ping i20 or G30 or sometimes a Ping G Crossover. Just hit a lot of good shots with those things. First eagle I ever made on a (short) par 5, not that I've made many, was with an i20 hybrid approach.
  • Irons: Sigh, no favorites. Currently, into Taylor Mades but have played Ping, Callaway, Mizuno, Titleist, Nike, Wilson, Cobra, Cleveland. Irons for me are like driving a mini-van; utilitarian. If I was going to get anything new, I think I'd like to try Titleist T100s or maybe T200s.
  • Wedges- Cleveland since I was young and could afford a real wedge.  Back in those days, Bob Vokey was some guy trying to figure out a career path.
  • Putter- Ping Anser- Out of the seemingly endless versions of this club, my all time favorite is a bronze model, circa 1978-80,  without a sight line. It had been sitting in the pro shop for at least  a year before I bought it. I had to save up cash from my after school job.  It was the first really good golf club I had owned. I still have it but I've been putting with a 2021 Anser recently.

Louisville Golf has been selling persimmons with graphite shafts for years.  Right now, they show PX Evenflow, or HZRDUS Smoke Black or Blue, as shaft options with their Smart Driver.

20 years ago, I picked one up within EI70, which was fairly current at the time.

Id be interested in seeing something like that, myself.

There are occasional snips of info out there.  Fowler hit persimmon on a monitor, DJ famously hit Jack's Driver with 290+ carry.  Quite a few years ago, Padraig Harrington hit some 50 year old clubs with spin data.

Not a big call for it, overall.  <shrug>

I’ll list my all time favorites, I guess that would be my dream bag…

Driver Ping G400Max forgiving, long, total package

3wood Callaway Rogue ( only 3 wood I ever had total confidence in

Hybrid  Callaway RogueX 18* Taylormade Jetspeed 22* both were long, and the 22* was  like cheating

Irons Mizuno MX-20 (my first brand new set. I don’t know why I ever sold them. They were perfect.

Wedges Ping “something” from about 2008? Can’t recall model

Putter never owned it ( I’m a lefty) but I’d love a Scotty double wide CS blade

stand bag would be an old version (early 2000’s) blue and white Mizuno. They were gorgeous

I look back at this list and think if I’d never bought anything else, I’d be very happy. Change isn’t always good. 🥲
