Anyone ever started a golf related business?

I have an idea for a putting aid that I am curious about trying to market to test the viability. Has anyone ever started up something similar - prototype, sold via ecommerce/social, social marketing, etc.

How much do you have in your basement? What percentage of your portfolio is devoted to it? How much of it can you lift above your head?

Rule 1: Dont pyramid scheme your pre-orders and etc if you get that far as a front to pay for production

 

The supply chain and etc and so messed up right now expect at least 2 years to get working production-ready model from overseas if you need to go that route.

If you're wanting honest feedback on whether or not golfers will buy your idea/product you'll find it on WRX. All you have to do is post the info, how it works, price you expect to charge, and etc.

 

Personally, if someone asked me if I'd be willing to buy a putting training aid my first question would be..... "How is this one different from the thousands of other putting training aids on the market?"

Assuming that there are some differences between your proposed training aid and the other training aids, have you considered patent or design protection before disclosing your new training aid?  If you do have something that is marketable, you want to make sure that it is protected.

Yes I have done the things you said. You can PM me if you want advice.

 

but mostly you can use common sense.

 

e.g. Make a prototype and ask people to try it at your local putting green. Take notes and then improve the product.

 

if people actually give you good reviews and it actually helps people improve then you could have something.

 

so test it and be practical. Don’t assume the product works. Prove it. Then the marketing will come easily.

Remember that show on Golf channel "Fore Inventors Only"...it was like American Idol/Shark Tank for golf ideas.

Thanks, all. This aid is actually to help with feel - not mechanics. Helps match line and speed.
