Yeah, that's spot on. That's a really good look right there. I'm sure they feel as good as they look, too.

Bump! Anyone out there playing a full set of 221s? Curious how you are finding turf interaction and forgiveness on slight misses bs Mizuno blades of past? I have a set of brand new heads 3-pw that I bought on a whim and debating whether to shaft them up with some modus 125x or return them. I also have a set of 225s that I’m trying to get used to. Being a long time blade guy, it’s just hard to go bigger. I’ve tried a dozen times and always fall back on blades.

-Taylormade BRNR 11.5* set at 9.5* Ventus Red TR 7X playing 44.25”

Anxious to hear any replies to this as well.  I'm trying to decide if it is worth the switch from my MP20's.

I have the full set with modus 115s shafts. I have a full set of the 225’s I have been playing too. Got the 221 on a whim as well - b/c why not?? These are my first ever set of blades.

They are the best feeling irons I have ever hit in my life. A playing partner of mine has them as well and says the same. He has played many different sets of blades. He talked me into the mess.

We both agree - they are surprisingly forgiving for blades. The 225 in the long irons is much more forgiving, it’s a significant difference. Not as noticeable once you get into the 30 degree lofts.

turf interaction was pretty similar, it is really a feel thing in the scoring irons that is the big difference for me.

He even plays the 3 iron. I only go as low as the 4.

I may consider blending the 4-5-6 in the 225 with the 6-7-8-9-P in the 221. The lofts blend perfectly. No need to go bending anything. I love the 225, best player distance irons I have ever hit (I have tried them all), but the scoring irons just didn’t have that soft feel i was used with my X-forged CB.

I can hit the 4 in the 221, just not as consistently as in the 225.

How are the 221’s forgiveness compared the the xforged cb’s? Currently playing the Callaways and absolutely love them. Want to pick up a set of the 221’s as well. Just wondering how the two compare.

So I have gone through a few changes…. I traded the 221 for Miura MC-501 …. The 221 are hard to game in the king irons and the shaft wasn’t the best fit. The MC-201 are unreal. I can play blades pretty proficiently too.

I  am also trading my XFCB in for TCB….. the offset in the short irons was difficult for me to deal with….. like more compact irons and golf with steel fiber 115 FC CW stiff shafts.

The XFCB are very forgiving…… not even in the same ball park as the 221 blades….

Gotcha. The offset on the XFCB does bother me a little as well. Have never tried Miura. Not a fan of the price tag.

Preowned for Miura…..  I way new…. Just found the in my shaft and in pristine condition. They feel unreal.  Nothing else feels quite like them. I would go MC-501 any day over the 221….

the XFCB…. Wanted to love them… the 7 iron tested out great….. but this is the problem with testing with one club…. TCB should fit the bill.

I’ll keep an eye out for some used 501’s then. Good luck with the TCB’s!

Miura 501’s to me had way too much offset. Couldn’t get comfortable looking down at them, so parted way with my wet only after a few months.

Hm ok. I don’t mind a little offset. Clearly because I’m playing XFCB. I’ve gotten over it but I’d hate to buy another set with the same or more offset. I have nowhere to test Miura unfortunately.

what are you playing now?

I’m in T100s’s bent weak 1 degree. Much better to look down out compared to the Miura’s in my opinion. But I’m looking into blades now as the T100s’s are almost too hot for me and I get too many fliers

I like the look of the t100s. I’ve hit them a few times. Really like them actually but never pulled the trigger as I hit my XFCB so well. They provide a little more forgiveness that I need but just don’t look as great as others at address. I didn’t expect fliers from the t100 but they do seem a little hot so that’s understandable.

They are a little unique like that…. They have more offset than traditional blades, but they don’t tend to have the left miss that most offset clubs have….

I was always perplexed by the offset on these, but for some reason they work so well and don’t bother me like on other irons…

the easiest blades I have ever played…. Along with the wilson staff blades.

the 221s are a great iron. For a blade they are not short even though they are not strong lofted at all. I think they were able to dial in the spin rates and that is producing a much more stable flight.
