Here is part of the YJS issue today. Playing from a wrong tee box.

That's on the organizers and the tournament officials.  This shouldn't happen at this level.

Nope. This is all on YJS and Stenson. The information was provided to all players.

https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2021/12/05/jordan-spieth-henrik-stenson-bizarre-rules-infraction-hero-world/

The tee box on the 17th hole had moved overnight to where the tee box was for the ninth hole during the first three rounds. The tee box for the ninth hole in the final round was moved up. Multiple signs were posted alerting the players and information on new yardages were provided on the tee sheets.

“We kept our heads down after finishing out on hole No. 8 and walked to the 9 tee box that we did on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and put the ball down and hit some beautiful tee shots,” Stenson said. “Then when we went down to the hole, went down to the balls. The rules official said, did you hit off the right tee box? And we’re like, well, yeah, kind of, and then we looked back and we saw that there was another one forward and left.

“So obviously they switched things around and put 17 on the 9th tee box today and 9 was in a different place and we didn’t pay attention being first out and just motoring along.”

Whoa. These guys need to switch back to regular coffee!️! 😳

And here is a quote from Spieth. Thinking it was no biggie because it’s only a charity event and then… DOH.

It is on the players but typically they move the sponsor boards if they move a tee box. That way there would be no confusion

Ouch Morikawa, I guess only Tiger is a Tiger level closer.

Lol's,  but alas Tiger also has lost a 54 hole,   leading by 4,  tournament, as have others.

It goes with the territory.

Just saw what Sam burns did. Wow.  Bigger collapse than Colin’s.    Proves that the fear of bogey is often stronger than the want of birdie.

Are you sure about that?

The winner of 81 tour events, including this year's Masters, Woods has never failed to win when leading by at least 3 strokes heading into the final round.

nah, I'd like to give the players the benefit of the doubt.  I guess however many signs they posted weren't that helpful.  You too must think they are "stupid".  Stenson's words, not mine.  And according to him, there was nothing on the tee box.  that is stupid of the organizers.

When asked if it was an easy mistake to make, Stenson took offense.

“I’m a little offended by that because then you think I’m really stupid,” he said.

Added Stenson: “A little note on the tee box would have been helpful, and I will make sure I tee it up on the right tee box in the future because I don’t think I’ve ever done this before. Hopefully, you haven’t either.

Nope it's all on the players in spite of Stenson being butt hurt over it. Seems the other 18 players in the field today got the message and had no trouble with it.

woah all 18 of them.  when do we ever see these kinds of penalties if ever?  because tournament organizers don't screw up like they did here.  why even bring even a hint of confusion to the players?

The PGA Tour and tournament organizers didn't screw up. Only Stenson and Jordan did. Again since you've appeared to ignore it the players were informed of this. How about reading what's been posted? Or watch this video to show that the players screwed up. Especially the portion of the video that show the tee box numbers.

yes, they were notified but they didn't make it abundantly clear enough.  that's where I take exception.  like Stenson said, a note on the tee's that said this is the tee box for hole #9 would have been sufficient.  you think they'd have tee'd off any way if they saw something on the tee box?  give me a break.

Don't think you watched the interview, but Stenson said after Jordan and him made the mistake, the tournament organizers specifically told every group after them about the change as they walked up.

Yes I did. Again the players were previously informed of this. The previous articles on this and the video linked (Notah) clearly states this information was provided previous. Have you reviewed the prior posts that show this information? Appears not. I mean the video clearly shows they played off of the wrong tee box as well.

And as the write up on Shackelfords web site states the caddies missed this as well. As a player it's your responsibility to make sure you are on the correct hole and teeing ground. In spite of this information being provided to the players Henrik and Jordan f'ed up and didn't do this. All on them.

Again you are ignoring the fact that all of the players were notified of this. If they were provided this information before hand as reported why should there have been a note on the tee box? YJS and Henrik need to own up and take accountability to the fact they royally screwed up.

I am not ignoring anything.  You are the one who's not understanding what I am saying.  I am not refuting that the organizers didn't do anything.  What I'm saying is they messed up by not making it abundantly clear so that no one, I mean even an idiot would know where to tee off from on which hole.  It wasn't just the players, what about their caddies?  Looks like Speith and Henrik did own up to it but I don't fault them.

Did you actually watch the video I linked? It's clear as day based on the tee box markers shown in the video they were on the wrong tee box. And yes I mentioned the caddies missed it was well.

However the competitor is solely responsible to make sure he/she are playing the correct hole and proper tee box. It appears Jordan/Henrik didn't pay any attention to the information they were provided by the PGA Tour/event staff. Again that's on them.

Same as with DJ and his bunker/waste area screw up at Whistling Straits at the PGA in 2013.

if the organizers did their job well, we wouldn't even be talking about this.
