Easier way to install armlock grips?

Whenever i try to install an armlock grip (17" or 21") on a shaft with a large butt diameter (0.660"), its a real struggle. Its probably the club building task I dread the most. Doing tape and solvent has never really worked well for me for these types of install. I can get them on with air, but it usually takes high pressure and 5 minutes of using all my strength in my body to push it on (slight exaggeration). There must be an easier way than this...

Not surprised you are struggling with a .660(!) butt diameter shaft. What model is it?

Warming up the grip in the microwave or using a heat gun and lots and lots of solvent is usually the easiest way.

LAGP TPZ-180 (their armlock grip)

Tape and double/triple the amount of solvent you usually use. Shake it inside the grip also

That is they way I do them-- Wet the tape really well and also the inside of the grip then use air--- I always caution people do not exceed 35 PSI because anything over that you take a chance of blowing a grip up

They are just really difficult to get on. Tape, lots of grip solvent and brute force. Good luck! I'm glad I won't have to change mine for a long time!!!!

Forget it in cold weather. The grip is never going to flex enough.

I agree with the tape/solvent and air. Don't use a solvent that will evaporate quickly. You may get the grip half way on but that's about it.

In the cold weather I've take and old steel shaft and heated, with a propane torch, the part of the shaft from the tip up 10". Insert that into the grip and squeeze with both hands and it'll loosen up the firmness. Then Solvent with air.
