GC3 and almost golf ball

Has anyone tried an indoor safe golf ball with a GC3?

 

I have a gc3 on the way and I'm curious. My wife is just learning to golf and I'm not comfortable with her hitting real balls in my living room yet. Eventually I plan to make a full enclosure but was wondering if there is a decent, indoor ball option for now that won't give absolutely terrible numbers

GC3 reads the ball. It will give you the output based on what the ball does. An "almost golf ball" is not a real golf ball and will not react like a real ball, so you will not get real ball data with it. If you hit it and it goes 50mph and launches at 30º spins 5K RPM that's what it will show you and the ball flight and distance will be based off that. It can't take a non-golf ball and somehow give you real golf ball information.

But in all seriousness, I'm not worried about the perfect numbers, its a safety issue with my wife just learning. After I make the full enclosure and she gets better, I'll let her hit real balls. 

 

I did watch a few videos of a guy testing them. On half shots, aiming for 75-100 yards and the data was surprisingly good and my wifes full swing with a mid to long iron is less than my 3/4 swing with my 58° (aka, my 100 shot) so it may not be as bad as I expect for her.

Bahaha, I totally didn't even look at your username lol. Yeah if you're not concerned with super lifelike numbers it should be fine for the short term. I wonder if Foresight or someone makes a protective cage like they have for the GC2 and Skytrak has as well. Might be worth looking into that as well. I'm gonna order the Launch Pro in the next preorder they do so I can't wait to get one either.

I'll be using real balls, she will not.. I may design my own protective case. I can wait for this to come, already planned out/ designed a quick pop up enclosure for my living room

You decide on a mat/net yet? I think I'm gonna go with the Spornia SPG-7 and a Fiberbuilt Hourglass studio Mat. Then I need to find a laptop too of course...
