Try skateboarding. Similar level of frustration with about 500% more potential for serious bodily injury.

Win-Win.

Golf is my main hobby and I really didnt have anything else.

I took up disc golf this year and had a blast. Free where I live and it was fun to play a new sport that I am terrible at and get to learn from the beginning.

Wife and I also picked up pickleball recently which is I believe the fastest growing sport on the planet. That is fun.

I play golf in the summer and do curling the winter. Curling is surprisingly fun.

Used to play in flag football and basketball leagues until they were overun with people wanting to fight all the time.

Love eight ball and nine ball.  Unfortunately, the chipping yips weirdly show up with the cue stick under pressure.  To the point it's almost unplayable for more than fun.

Bet I say that I should take up bowling at least once a month.

You guys seem to be giving actual suggestions!  At least once a round, someone in my group (ok, usually it's me) mutters "I should take up bowling".... or tennis or whatever.  But we all know it's not serious and we're hopelessly addicted to golf....

My go to is..."I should take up badminton."  My greatest frustration currently is GDS (Good Drive Syndrome).  My distance has dropped substantially in the last 5 years.  Just not as flexible as I used to be.

Never fails that when everything works, twice a month, and I hit a scorcher out to my old distance.  That is when I will skull one or chunk one or just generally do something immortally stupid.

But hey, a bad day golfing is better than any day on the honey do list.

I've always been a fan of the finesse games so I tend towards golf, tennis, and bowling.

Haven't been bowling in a while since covid but missing a single pin spare and duffing a chip feel uniquely similar

I stopped car racing and came back to golf, because 1) it was cheaper and b) can still be competitive.

Every time I suck, "I need to buy a new set of tires to get ready,...."

Win-Win.

I gave up skateboarding for golf once the lockdowns started. I just turned 50 and the cost of repairs has gotten out of hand.

Treating my body as an amusement park doesn't add to longevity. I have a longboard, but only the bike is allowed at the park now.

You could try Fling Golf. I saw this garbage on Shark Tank last night.  Can't see this lasting long.

Well, that is different.  I can already see Scotty Cameron selling a Limited Edition Flingstick for $2500 that guys would hang on their wall and never use.

Try homebrewing. The investment can be along the same line as clubs and rounds, the pressure to follow through and make good product is there, and it is immensely satisfying when you make quality product (which really isn't that hard if you follow procedure).

Then there's bottling, kegging, lifting/carrying for all you exercise needs. Plus its time consuming - 2 hours to brew, 2 weeks to ferment, 2 hours to bottle, 2 more weeks to bottle condition.

It really is fun 🍻

I've played competitive sports since I was 6 which included baseball, basketball, tennis and bowling. Bowling isn't that easy of a game as you can get frustrated just like in golf. It's probably the only game where an amateur can beat a pro in a game.

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
