Tiger Woods - with TM Stealth driver - 2021 PNC Championship

Tiger: Ok buddy, I have access to literally any Nike shoe you can dream up! What will it be?!

Charlie: Puma.

🤣

As I noted in the main PNC Champ thread - based on what I've seen in the photos so far, I'm not detecting ANY swooshes on him anywhere.  I'm not seeing anything on the pants/shirt and just some logo of some sort on the hat (maybe it is sort of Nike hat that I'm unfamiliar with?).  Bit of a contrast from last year where the Nike logos were certainly noticeable.

Wouldn’t shock me one bit if Charlie and Puma had some sort of “relationship”. The kid is marketing gold!

That’s awesome🤣! I have no idea what taylormade is gonna be trying to sell. The marketing is gonna be hilarious.

Taylormade-

“Frontal Raidal Core 6000x 2.0 extra hot face delivers THE MOST EVER speed. The stealth technology is a revolutionary design, used in modern fighter jets like the F-22 raptor. Stealth-like weighting increasing G-force, lowering spin an average 3000rpm when compared to PXG Gen4 drivers in a lab.”

Here's another snippet from the interview.

He said the COG is moved forward so he can work it more.  He also likes the color.

COG forward should lower launch and spin.

Well, we already knew he wasn’t some Bryson Dechambeu. He’s not going to say anything but “oh my, this driver is the best ever!”

Yeah I mean, it's literally how they are built, lol. Epoxy though of course.

7 hours ago, dbornack said:

Yeah, I never understood that with the newer stuff. The soles and weights didn't really center with the face. Maybe they figured out as the face turns over with the release of the club that the weight/CG moves from the inside/heel.

That was intentional to locate the CG where they wanted and it was part of the whole "aerodynamics" story, whatever that is worth (not much IMO).

It's much disputed

Only by conspiratorial doofuses , lol. If your argument is that it LOOKS like he is using adjustable clubs but they are actually fixed/bonded, then there are several actual range session videos of him unscrewing the heads of his fairways and changing settings. So yeah, not disputed.

Great, now pics of the standard Stealth please.

Don't like the fairway much. Looks like it has the Cobra amp cell tail.

If you rummage through the Large Taylormade driver thread there are pics of it there. Same as the plus with no track. Look isn’t much different.

The only really good thing he said was he liked the color.

He said he was hitting it short which wasn’t related to the club.

The COG thing is a interesting because COGs have been moving back since the SLDR.  COG forward makes a driver have less spin and makes it less forgiving.

The forward CG will be a love/hate for many players. I need spin so a 10G front weight means I’d probably have to loft up in the Stealth Plus or hope lighter front weights and heavier back weights are made available. However I bet I could stay in a 9° head in the Stealth (SIM 2 Max) and be quite happy. I play my Triple Diamond 10.5° at 9.5° with 2G forward and 12G back. Standard Speed 9° is at 8° with 10G back. It’s as close to optimal as I have had.

I don't see why you'd think this is a departure from that trend, it probably has a more rearward CG than the SIM because of the weight savings with the face.

Heard a snippet of his interview on Sirius. Said he likes the forward COG as mentioned above. He said everyone knows he likes to curve it. With the previous drivers he only had one shot the draw. The cut on previous drivers were too short.

Now he says his cut goes further so he now has two shots.

A common complaint was the Sims and Max’s were kind of close. This sounds like more separation

Interesting. Assuming the CoG is more forward and it's not because of hot melt then that means the CoG is somewhat forward but also really low. Neutral axis territory?

Context is everything. Compared to what?

Probably compared to his SIM. However as @Valtielpointed out, the CG is most likely still plenty rearward which may be why Tiger is getting more out of Stealth with his cut shot.
