Got expelled from my CC

At an Appeal, you might be able to change to a suspension on probation
and have your wife apologize.     Maybe a witness can say it wasn't as
bad as accused.   Maybe she got in the Pres's wife face?

Do they also have anything on you, like an argument, slow play, breaking
any rules?   This would add to what she did.

It seems to me they could just have suspended her for some time.

Totally agree! Maybe the club could facilitate a conversation with the bartender/staff on duty at the time?  Seems like kind of thing you'd getter a letter for, or maybe suspension of privileges for a month or two....

If the OP is still reading , yes pretty much any other club you go to will inevitably hear about it unless it's a different city. In my experience golfers gossip like 16yr old girls so not much you can do about that. There's always guys that have friends at different clubs or have switched themselves etc...

I have seen people denied at new clubs because of stuff at the old ones--However that is usually in the case of repeat offenders who are pretty notorious. I'm aware of 1 person around here who has been rejected by a few places due to reputation (well earned). But again this is because this person has a track record of multiple outbursts, and one of the things they were accused of was criminal

one incident would have to be horrifically bad to prevent you from joining other clubs. My guess is you'll get in somewhere else but the rumors will follow--Just gotta fess up to it and laugh about it

So earlier this year my family and I joined a country club and it was a perfect fit. Great golf, dining, events, pools and things for kids to do etc.  About a month ago my wife went to a ladies social event, drank too much, and acted like an idiot. The club decided to end our membership. I’m devastated… my first experience as a member at a club and I just loved it. Thought it would be our club for many years and my kids would grow up going there. They gave us a chance to appeal in person by I’m not optimistic.

I remember when doing the paperwork to join that there was a question about ever being expelled from a club before… I’m hoping we can join another club but I’m concerned the new club will somehow know we have been kicked out of a club before and deny us. Worried I’m going to be basically blacklisted. Is there a way for other clubs to know our history??

The wife made a mistake and trying so hard to take it easy on her but dang… Anyone ever experience anything like this and an in person appeal go your way?

As others of said, at your typical club - things must have gone really off the rails to be given the boot.

Every region is different, but typically there is lots of cross over between clubs. You'll have a few people that are members at more than one club and staff all know each other as they circulate too. In our area all the club captains meet formally as a group and golf with one and other and share information back and forth. I would suspect the story of what your wife did has been repeated at every club in your area by now.

Don't try to hide it, if you do to try join somewhere else and doing what you can to smooth things over on the way out is a good idea if you want to join elsewhere in the area.

Thanks!

And yes, there is another approach vs. fall on your sword!

Yes the approach of lawyering up and fighting it is a lose/lose. If you scare the club into letting you stay, you better be ready to be disliked for a long time, if you don't 'win' you look even worse when joining other clubs as no one wants a member that sues the club.

No way of telling if he's read the thread but he HAS been on the forum since he started it.

Not surprised he wouldn't tell the whole story but I am surprised he wouldn't have commented that his wife "didn't do" this or "didn't do that" to a few of the poor behaviors suggested by some posters and that he wasn't "comfortable posting the exact details".

Maybe he should be expelled from WRX too ??? :classic_laugh: (j/k)

Even if you won the appeal, would you really want to be a part of a club where you aren't welcomed entirely?

Much as Groucho Marx is reported to have said, “I do not care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members.” 😲

Knowledge of the Rules is part of the applied skill set which a player must use to play competitive golf.

I'm sure you remember the lawsuit from the group of women at Marine Drive who sued the club over the lack of access to the men's grill room....it's now co-ed.

Cost the club a lot of money in legal fees and the courts ruled in favour of the club.

As a member applying to a club...you know what the policies are and the access to areas of the club and tee sheet....if you don't like the restrictions...don't join.

IMO...kinda like a twilight member joining a club and then moaning they don't have full access to the tee sheet.

The litigator representing the group of women is a member at Point Grey....not sure if she did it pro bono to support the cause or if she quit Marine to go to PG.

If the latter...ya surprised PG accepted her.

FWIW...I know a female member at Marine Drive and have played golf with her a few times at MD...she wasn't happy that the women launched the lawsuit...costing the club money and said .....she had no ill will nor had any interest having access to the men's grill room.

It's gotta be some sort of super insensitive rant. I mean I want to know as much as anyone but it's gotta be that. Most other things will get you warnings or blackballed etc

But just flat out booted? It's an offensive rant for sure.
