But I want to have a whinge about this combined tournament format - men's and women's tournaments played together. Now I know some of you like the Vic Open format, but I don't - and this WPGA format was detestable!!

To my shame, Australia seems to be at the forefront pushing this woke nonsense.

Canada is also a Pink Shirt society....lead by snowflake Justin Trudeau...WTH.

Back to the college seniors leaving before the spring season . . . I've heard people say that they have nothing to lose by playing out their college seasons because they can accept the LPGA status when the NCAAs are over.  Obviously they miss the opportunity to play in all the events that they could get into before NCAAs conclude.  But I'm curious if it really is a disadvantage for them professionally to not start on the tour until June.  Do they set themselves back significantly in terms of their status for 2023?

College players who deferred their membership usually starts their first tournament as a member at the US Women's Open, if they manage to qualify for USWO.  Basically, at that point they have skipped the first eleven tournaments; which coincides with the first priority reshuffle period.

Rookie players who've played well during the first eleven tournaments and has entered the Top-80 of current year priority standing will earn a new priority category 'Current Year Top-80' after first reshuffle; which places them ahead of 'Symetra Tour Promotion', 'Prior Year #81-100' and '2021 Q-Series Qualifiers'.  With 'Current Year Top-80' status, players are qualified to play almost all events of the next ten tournaments.

Even though most rookies are of relatively low priorities, they typically can qualify to play at least 4-5 tournaments out of the first eleven tournaments.  Which give them a chance to reach 'Current Year Top-80' if they manage to make the cuts and score two Top-30 finishes.  Rookies who deferred their membership until USWO will start with their low '2021 Q-Series Qualifiers' priority status and start the process all over again; but with eleven less tournaments to earn their 2023 status.

This is really helpful.  Thanks.  I've heard some criticism of these kids for "bailing out on their teams" in their senior season, so it's good to understand that they really are giving up a lot and starting their first season on tour at a disadvantage by deferring.

Most people referred to Jennifer Kupcho and Maria Fassi, who deferred their memberships and didn't turn pro until 2019 USWO.  Both managed to retain their LPGA cards for 2020; but barely in Maria's case.

I'd say the chance to retain their memberships for those who deferred is cut by almost half; a big disadvantage indeed!

is the “2022 LPGA Priority List” already published?

Did a search (in case that @Oh Hi Carl wanted to see an example... albeit the explanation from @18majors= already excellent!)

here’s the 2021 season-opening version (and a handy “Google search” (Short Link: https://bit.ly/3GDJwa6,  if you want to see the other iterations)

Thank you, @JungleJimbo.  That's very interesting reading.  Not sure why they have to take the priority list down to #529, but it's a nice touch I guess to include folks who won tournaments 30 years ago.

So will this year's priority list be based on 2021? I notice that the 2021 priority list was based on 2019.

My Guess is “No” ie 2021’s Priority List being based on 2019 was largely a one-off due to the pandemic & various lockdowns/tournament cancellations.

@18majorsand the other learned folks here can probably give you a more detailed answer.

in the  meantime, you might like to view 2020’s priority list as a comparison

@Oh Hi Carl and @JungleJimbo

The 2022 Priority List will have the same format as 2021 and will be based on 2021 results.

The 'Top-80' and 'Nos. 81-100' will be based on:

Race to CME Globe Ranking

The 'Top-10 LPGA Symetra Tour':

Top-10 Symetra Tour

The 'Top-45 Q-Series':

2021 Q-Series

Excellent, thank you.  So how does Monday qualifying work?  I read about one of the Q-school graduates planning to Monday qualify for Gainbridge.  Is that because she knows how many spots there are in the field and her number is lower than that on the priority list, so she knows she will have to Monday qualify?  Is there a website for each tourney that says how spots are open for Monday qualifiers?

The preliminary entry list for each tournament is posted before the tournament; each player knows whether they're in the field:

Gainbridge Tournament Entries

There's a website for Monday Qualifiers:

Precisely.  Monday Qualifying spots are typically limited to 2 spots.   On the LPGA Website, the list of tournaments can be found and if you click on the individual tournament, you can see basic info on the event, including the eligible field/tournament entries . . . but it depends on how quickly the LPGA social media/website people get that info. up.

So are there Covid travel issues that would prevent SORE LOSER Minjee from playing?....or is this event too 'low class" for her...same with Hannah.

Via another forum.

I knew Oz has harsh Covid restrictions

BUT

I didn't know some states have 14 day quarantine for even interstate travel.

Hannah is starting in Thailand....so if she played and returned to Perth...14 days quarantine.

Minjee will just be heading to FLA for Gainbridge.....unless she's already in the US.

Wow.  I didn't realize there are so few spots for Monday qualifiers.  That's a big risk to travel somewhere to try to land one of two spots, esp if on a tight budget.

Yes, winning Monday qualification with only one round is like winning a lottery!

I'm not sure even the best players, Nelly Korda or Jin Young Ko, can guarantee a victory if they try.

Sorry if I'm being redundant but for Monday Qualifying:

Go to LPGA website, click on Tournaments, click on Local LPGA Qualifying Tournaments.

The individual tournaments are listed and start to populate pretty quickly. That being said, as of now only Gainbridge lists participants.

ON ANOTHER NOTE, Danielle Kang back into the TOP 10 Rolex Rankings (Henderson OUT), YUKA is officially Japanese.

Yuka became the fourth Japanese player inside Rolex #15.  Japan would have one more player than the US if the Olympics is held this year.

There's a fairly large gap to the next one. Hinako is at #37. I do expect that she'll climb into the Top 20 before the season ends.

Hinako is my pick to win 2022 Rookie of the Year; all she needs to do is to Top-10 all 5 majors.

She's going to have her work cut out for her. Atthaya, Ayaka, Pauline, Hye Jin, and Na Rin are going to be serious competition.

@MagicClassic407 we've seen about 4-5 pictures of you...but you look "different" in each picture???

So you have a new WRX avatar picture....at 1st.... I thought it was you and Ian Fraser of TXG.🤣

Is that your son?

I look different? Guess it depends on which wig/hairpiece I'm wearing.👰🏼‍♀️

In my avatar I'm pictured with Ryan Dunk at some honky tonk in Nashville. Recall I was just there for the US National Figure Skating Competition. Ryan finished 9th and is currently in Tallinn, Estonia representing the USA in the Four Continents Championship. Yes, I am a cougar.

200.gifBTW, this ISN'T me.

Love COUGARS.🤣

I used to live with a cougar when I was in my early 20's....and my wife is older than I.

The 2022 Priority List:

2022 Priority List

This is a tough year with many golfers using their lifetime achievements to retain their priority status.  As a result, Na Rin An the Q-Series medalist, is pushed out to Priority #132.  Bianca Pagdanganan is #141 and Hinako Shibuno #153.

@18majors The Link you shared, for the 2022 LPGA Priority List

 =wasn’t working for me

see if this Link= has better luck?
