The best way to accelerate the purse growth is to set up the equivalent of PGA FedEx Cup.

I always thought that CME Group got too much publicity for a paltry $7.0 million purse they sponsored at the end of the year.  By comparison, Federal Express spent more than $100.0 million a year on PGA Tour for similar publicity:

  1.   FedEx St. Jude Championship                                      $20.0 million
  2.   FedEx Cup Bonus                                                           $75.0 million
  3.   Other contribution                                                          > $5.0 million

Chevron is already a Major LPGA Championship sponsor, but they can do a lot more:

  1.   Increase the purse for Chevron Championship from $5.0 million to $10.0 million
  2.   Establish Chevron Cup with a $50.0 million bonus pool for Top-30 players after CME Tour Championship

                    Winner                                                                      $10.0 million

                    #2                                                                              $6.0 million

                    #3                                                                              $4.0 million

                    #4                                                                              $3.0 million

                    #5-10                                                                         $2.0 million

                    #11-20                                                                        $1.0 million

                    #20-30                                                                       $500.0 K

Chevron is an obvious choice because the company has money and already a sponsor.  But there are other choices like Exxon or Occidental Petroleum.

I completely agree with the suggestion and vision for advancing the purse growth, but I'm curious why the two other companies you suggest are both energy companies.

As you know, both the stock market and profit of 2022 haven't been the best for Big Companies; but oil companies have been the exception.

Also, Aramco has been single handedly raising the profile of LET, which is related to LPGA.   But they haven't done anything on LPGA, presumably because of 911.  Fortunately, we don't need Aramco, because our own oil companies are as cash rich as Aramco.

Yuka's Japanese citizenship decision is a gift that keeps up on giving:

Yuka Saso gets boost ahead of 2023 LPGA Tour campaign

"Major champion Yuka Saso’s buildup for the 2023 LPGA season gathers momentum in terms of support as she linked up with Federal Land, Inc., becoming a brand ambassador for the country’s top real estate developer."

The wedding isn't till Saturday 12/30 (which is Friday in the US with the IDL).

Lydia's wedding = today Friday 30 December at Myeongdong Cathedral (2pm local time).

Likely, the Korean-language news portals will report on the wedding ahead of the English-language news.

I found the wedding news via this google search : <"리디아 고" "정준"> i.e. search for Lydia Ko and Chung Jun, in Korean. https://bit.ly/3Igu0oh

Did the other players ranked above her decline the invite ?

The tournament plans to take 50 players ranked inside Rolex #300; only four players have registered thus far.  The other three are all #50 or better.

It's early, we're six weeks before the tournament.  I expect both Annie Park (#179) and Yealimi Noh (#108) to enter their registration shortly after the New Year.

I'm hoping Annie has secured some sponsors for this upcoming season vs rocking her Yankees hat to events.

Yes, sponsors are especially good in taking care of expenses; like international travels including for caddies.

Maybe she is secretly sponsored by the Steinbrenners and the NYY as being the only LPGAer from NY + we see MLB logo sponsorships on the PGA (Cam Young, Johnny Vegas, Adam Long etc)

🤔🤔

Edit - Matilda Casten was born in NY .. never woulda thunk that, but she doesn't need to struggle for sponsors v Annie ..

For your information, Alexa Pano was recently sponsored by New England Patriots:

From the article: ". . . she earned a reputation as one of the most accomplished junior golfers of all time." Huh?

Maybe she has the most Instagram followers of any junior golfer, , or maybe she's secretly a violin and tuba master, or maybe the author considers being on The Short Game to be the equivalent of two or three junior ams.   Who knows?
