Why not have the carbon face in the fairway?

The SIM2 MAX 3 HL was shut to my eye and didn't go into the bag because of that, I guess the Stealth 3HL has a harder time sitting closed since it's black on black.

Too bad that there are no adjustable sleeves in the Stealth Rescue and FW. Also, I looked at the custom options brochure and I wonder if the Stealth and Stealth Plus were mixed up? It says the Plus has Mid spin and the Stealth Mid-Low, and that the Plus has no sleeve adjustments but the Stealth has 1.5 +/-. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Loved the shape of the Max rescue but spun it too much and would miss left. If the Stealth indeed has lower spin than the Plus and indeed has a neutral bias, I will give it a shot. But I feel like these are typos?

I think it would have spoken more to the public about the confidence in the new carbon face technology if the fairways and hybrids had it, too.  I'm sure it's great and I believe that it is the future but naming the new line of fairways and hybrids with the same name as the new carbon driver but using the "old" titanium dilutes the messaging that they are all in on carbon IMO.

My guess is the carbon face on FW is for next years iteration.

Yeah there were multiple mistakes in the brochure, I guess they will eventually fix it.

Maybe since the outer layer of the Carbon 60X face is basically plastic, it doesn't hold up to the ware and tear that a FW/HY needs to hold up.

Will the Nippon GOST be offered in the Stealth rescue/hybrids? That matte black finish would look sick in these. I didn't see it as an option in the customizer, but still is on the Sim2 lineup. Thanks @TaylorMade Golf

was hoping this would be a return to the smaller m5 size in the fairway and they actually went bigger than the sim2.  Oh well, m5 lives another year!

Not a lot of traction in this thread. Fairways are at retailers (fitting heads) now. Let's get some feedback going.

I didn't hit the "max" but did hit the +. Both look Really good. Both sim lines sat closed to my eye, these don't. They sit very square.

I hit the + and I'll say rhe same as what I've thought about the sim ti lines (OG and 2)...they need to be at 16 degrees. There's just not enough spin off of them. I never got over 2500 spin and I'm a fader. The + is long and seems to be a tad fade biased (maybe it was just that it sat square rather than closed?). But the flight is just too flat. A 16.5 option in the ti would be huge. Drop loft one notch on the adapter and open the face and let it fly.

But that's still not an option...

$430 is crazy for a fairway wood. Use it maybe 2-4 times a round?

It is a lot. But, if it does its job Really well those 4 times you use it and it can be trusted, $430 is worth it. If the cheaper fairways fit you better, then perfect. Save some cash and still be in a club that’s a better fit.

Agree with you. But I use my fairway about 7 times a round due to the course I play. Still doesn’t justify the cost when there are as good performers for half the cost right now.

I am in need of both spin and fade bias.....what do you think fits me best?

5 wood I am looking for

sim and sim2 max I found both a little closed and hook-prone .....sim2 ti I couldn't get enough spin on it to be functional

any insight on direction I should take with Stealth would be appreciated

thank you

Every ball I hot with the plus faded. I'm a fader, so I was pleased. That could also mean that the + is just very neutral.

If you need more spin then a delofted 5wood is the way to go.

Thanks but I WANT the loft - that's the thing - so need the 18 or 19*

plus need a neutral flight

that's the dilemma always

the higher spin one is always draw-biased....

it's Painful

so, I need to know if the heads are more neutral this year

they do move around the Bias with each design

thanks if anyone has insight

appreciated

Fairway woods are a different animal.  I need mine to go straight off the tee, I don’t need a lot of additional distance performance. So I don’t have any interest in the TM fairways unlike my annual upgrade to a TM driver.  What I would like to know is why they keep bouncing around the size of the adjustable option?  M5 small, SIM larger, SIM2, smaller, Steath larger.

Great question, seems like an inconsistent plan/vision from TM for their Fairway woods.

I’m the same way, just want a 3-Wood that goes straight and is consistent off the Tee, and hopefully something hittable off the deck.

Realized I need the adjustability at 6’7 though, so ordered the Stealth Plus for the upright setting option and adjustable loft.

Very few people are updating fairways every year. I think it just gives people options. Since fairways year to year arent really “improving” much at all, i can go back a generation or two and get the desired size. Or if im in a fairway i like, i know in 2 or 3 years a similar size head will be coming, and maybe then i would look at updating.

I just got back from Myrtle to the frigid north. Borrowed some clubs my uncle had in the garage and hit an R11 3w all round. I just went to Golf Galaxy to hit a few 3woods after hitting that one so well.

I hit the epic speed, epic max, cobra (whatever newest model is). I hit them all ok. 230-240 overall distance but nothing stood out. I was getting my fastest SS with the cobra at 98mph..

I found the Stealth plus in a 13.5 sitting there with the stiff shaft. This thing was nuts. Ramped it up to a 102mph. swing (faster than my driver swing) and overall distances of 260-265. Even mishits were going 250. I'm going to have to try one on the better launch monitor as the one for the demo clubs is not a real monitor. I was impressed. I've not bought a brand new with the  wrapper on club since the Taylormade R7 came out. This one has a chance though.

Awesome! I love stumbling on a performance bump like that. Just think. If you picked up that much speed and it’s faster than your driver, maybe you have two clubs that need replacing 😉

Lol great. I returned from vacation and unboxed the Epic max driver I'd ordered from callaway preowned. I just put a new grip on it and hopefully can find time to hit it tomorrow. I keep thinking "can I adjust that stealth to a 12.5 and just rip cuts all day?". I'd hit that 15.5 degree r11 on vacation so well and with most of the par 4's in the 370 to 400 range it was plenty long enough.

I’ve been looking for comparison pics of the Stealth Plus 3W vs the SIM2 Ti 3W and haven’t been able to find any, so I created my own from the TM website.

My biggest concern with the Stealth Plus is whether TM was following the trend of Callaway and PING with shallow-faced and low Fairways, but it does look like the face is ever so slightly deeper, and they obviously moved more weight low and back with this design:
