New Ping driver

I heard the same Feb pre order....late March ship

But, somewhere on Instagram I read this is being pushed back - until they are caught up.

Crazy to me. Every company got hit. These guys got seemingly rocked. I was going to look at some ping clubs. Not worth it at this point.

I was told March ship date for the I525's.  Was my guy lost or just blowing smoke? Thanks

I’ve talked to two reputable dealers and both said the same thing… nothing in the near future. PING could pull a fast one and release something out of the blue but right now it’s the fall.

The next "woods" will be announced in mid-January 2023.

Considering their engineering experience and focus, I'd love to see their take on a carbon crown and sole.

If they ever go down this route, you know they'll optimize the $hit out of it and make it a monster.

Would most likely improve sound from their G425 too.

Didn't they do the carbon crown with the Rapture line?

The reason Ping went to counter balanced shafts is because they were the first one to make 45.75" their standard length.  The length is the reason for counter balanced shafts.  Not the head weight.

I disagree

every fitter knows the heads are heavy

they even discuss how it demands counterbalanced and frankly holds back swing speed as well

Well, that's a new one.  Would be hard pressed to believe that Ping, in all their testing, would settle on  anything that would impede swing speed.

Laughing - yes, agreed - it Sure is - someone should let them know lol, cause it is true unless you counter-balance it big and drop the moveable weight to lose the benefit of said weight

I just think they pushed it a little too much in their pursuit of stability and went a touch too far

I would definitely bet they lighten the next head up a bit

Ping drivers are more than well known to be Heavy.....hence why almost all fits end up in counterbalanced shafts to help the swingweight

If you want or need a medium to heavy toe or heel weight....sorry...this driver doesn't work for you.....

Lighten it up already - enough

What are you talking about? They make plenty of options for weights. I've reshafted with a bunch of different shafts and have never had an issue with overall weight or swing weight.

Quite the rant on SW you got going there. I know a few guys who bag the G series drivers (G400-425) and they don't have a problem getting max distance.

The new Taylormade drivers are D4\5  I doubt they will blink at any talk of they're to heavy. Ping won't either with their next lineup. jmo

That's if you get lucky enough to get one that is D4/D5. I've had a few TM drivers that were D8/D9 which is nice because you can trim the final length to what you want.

+1. My G410 weighs 183g without any weights and cam stock with a 12g in it for a 195g total. The 10.5 I had was 188g with no weight and had a 14g stock weight for a total of 202g. Neither of which are particularly heavy for a driver head.

Correct. I believe that was the first and last carbon crown driver from them. Too bad, because it looked great and performed for the time.

Rick Shiels podcast said their source confirmed no new ping driver until 2023. Price is going up £20, but I’m not surprised. I work in the product industry and the price of everything has gone up with long delivery times.

All 3 g425 max heads I’ve weighed were 204g without the adapter. With adapter you’re looking around 211g total which is about 10g heavier than the norm for most oems. TM and Cally drivers with their adapters usually come in around 200-201g total FWIW.
I kinda like it because I usually play my drivers at 45” or 45.25” to end of grip which ends up being around d2/d3 with that head weight.

Yeah I love the Ping clubheads and the external weights that are easy to adjust.  My SIM2 came in at a C8 swingweight so it was covered in lead tape to get it to a reasonable weight.  I've ordered several G425 weights to keep around pending shaft/grip changes to keep the swingweight where I like it.

The 425 driver has available weights from 14 to 32 grams in 3 gram intervals. Should not be too difficult to hit a target weight for most lengths, shafts and grips. Pretty handy it seems.

Very true. I know TXG said they typically go with a lighter than stock weight on the 425  to keep the swing weight reasonable especially with heavier shafts.

if anyone cares. I started a thread on THP forums a while back. If you do a google search on “THP what driver heads weigh” it should be the first result. About 3 pages worth of me and other guys posting pics of driver heads and how much they weigh.

keep in mind that adapters usually range from 6-7g (ping, TM, Cobra, pxg) to 9-10g for Cally and Titleist adapters.
