How to swing like Bryson

My take on Bryson's swing. Get some upright clubs with fat grips. Set up with the shaft on your right elbow plane. Pull/push, pull the club back with your right palm and arm then push the club through with your right palm and arm.

This is really cool. I’d love to see more tour pros out there making their own content. It was pretty cool seeing him give that guy a lesson, seemed very genuine, which is in line with everything I’ve ever heard about this. He’s obviously polarizing and a huge nerd but seems like a genuine nice guy.

Watching Bryson's video of how to swing like Bryson was very insightful. I learned how not to swing like Bryson. Glad i watched it.

 

I'm sorry, but I really don't like his swing. He's obviusly good at what he does and on a savage mission towards perfection, however, I just can't enjoy watching him swing a golf club. I've swung like that in the past, not on purpose and immediately feel like "i just Bryson'd it" it's too blocky. It's like using an arm lock putter for every club.

When he's being genuine and actig like an adult, I enjoy his content, however, when he's acting all giddy like a hyper schoolboy, I can't handle it.

His tips are good, however, his technique is probably only for a select few people out there, possibly only for those who are using One Lengths.

Well I don't use one length clubs but changing to his swing method a little over 2 years ago has cut my handicap in half. Was stuck at a 12 forever ( with a very strong short game ) with the conventional swing. Way too many variables with it FOR ME. 

 

Also at the same time I changed to the Jumbomax Ultralight XL grips. Once I am set up in the 1-plane he uses all I do is turn the shoulders and swing.

I like his swing personally.  I think if he’d bite the bullet and shorten wedges to around a 3/4 inch over length PW , which is probably cutting a 1/2 inch off , it would help. But I also know that you can choke down too. 
 

I’ve subscribed to the upright plane since way before  I ever heard of Bryson.  But just never as rigid as he is with his left arm.  Especially with shortgame.  I think that’s the thing he has to look at next.  Freeing himself with a wedge. Rigid on finesse shots isn’t good.  
 

i love that he has a flat (to almost cupped with driver)  wrist at the top and isn’t following this fad of bowing it for positions sake.

Love his drill in the bunker, especially how he kept it a continuous motion while he walked backwards. Could see that helping a lot of beginners.

Going to have to eat my words. At the range on the weekend, I incorprated one of his moves into my swing, and although I paired a few changes at the same time, i must say there is some success. I had done something similar before and it made me feel really "blocky" but taking it onboard for only 50% works for me:

 

Rotate your leading arm bicept into your chest. Imagine you've got your arms crossed over your chest and you let your arm drop from the elbow. (your palm is facing down or to the outside left a bit). Rotate your wrist to grab the club at a neutral position and take a regular right arms setup, loose and nothing special. (I guess you can see pretty much similar from the video.)
