Help With Picking a Fourth Hilton Head Course

My wife and I are planning a trip to Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head for later this year. We've already decided that we're gonna do the three courses on their resort: Harbour Town, Atlantic Dunes, and Heron Point. 

 

We've got room in the itinerary for one more round in the area. I searched these forums to see what previous topics mentioned about it, and it seems people are pretty high on Palmetto Dunes - Hills Course, and Old South Golf Links. For those in the know, if you had to pick from one of these two courses to play, which would you pick?

The Arthur Hills course at Palmetto Dunes was fun. I enjoyed it more than the Robert Trent Jones course. 

 

Hilton Head National was a solid layout, but not overly exciting. It was cheaper than the other courses on the island if you're looking to save a few bucks.

Have to slip a wildcard choice in there - Oyster Reef.   I enjoy this track much more than Hills or Old South.

I just played Hilton Head National and the greens are PERFECT.  You won't get ocean views there and it's lost it's charm a bit with the RV park going in but it's a solid course with beautiful greens.  Oyster Reef is fun and usually in good condition.  Hard to stay out of the sand there though, especially if you've never played it (lots of bunkers!).  The Country Club of Hilton Head (also in HH Plantation) is another solid choice.  Old South is a decent track.  Has a couple holes that are a bit quirky though and the greens can get a little fuzzy at times.  I haven't played it in awhile so I can't comment on it's current condition.  Both the Hills and Fazio courses in PD are decent.  Personally I think the RTJ course in overrated and overpriced just because you get to see the ocean on a couple holes.  Have fun!

It's a bit of a drive, but I really liked the course on the Marine base at Parris Island. You can make a full day of it, and walk around Beaufort after the round.

Hilton Head National is always in good shape and Old Souths greens are always slow!!   🙂

Of the 3 PD courses, I prefer the RTJ course, mostly due to the conditioning, specifically the greens.  The greens at Fazio and Hills are unbelievably slow, to the point where it takes away from the round.  RTJ is also more open, and does not wind through through the housing developments as much as Hills and Fazio.  We are headed back this summer, and while I will probably play all 3, I will be most excited for RTJ.

Haig Point does a "member for a day" thing that includes the ferry ride over, etc. I haven't played it in my previous trips but we're going this time around. It's in the neighborhood of $200.

 

As said above, the RTJ course at PD is another strong contender for pure public courses.
