PEI Golf question regarding courses...

Looking for some feedback on a few of the "non-premium" courses.  Heading to PEI in June and playing Crowbush, Brudenell and Dundareve.  Wondering how you'd rank the following course?

1.  Green Gables Golf

2.  Andersons Creek

3. Glasgow Hills

Looking to play 2 of the 3.  We are all sub 12 hadicaps so not concerned which course is tougher, but looking for more,  fun factor, views and challenge.

Thanks!

Are you staying at one of the resorts for Crowbush/Dundarave/Brudenell?  Unless you are making a day of it, I would think staying and playing the courses you are already playing given the distance as driving here isn't like in the GTA where you do 120+ on the highways.  You'll be spending at least 3 hours on the road if you are staying in/near Georgetown for your trip.

Thanks!  We are playing Crowbush twice, Brudenell and Dundareve.  Our last night we are downtown and looking to play 1 of the 3 mentioned for variety and something closer to downtown.

Looking at tee times that fit our schedule with flight etc and looks like Green Gables is the only one available.... dang... Andersons Creek looks nice.

Take extra bug repellant. Particularly at Crowbush.

Keep an eye on your food. After the 10th hole my buddy left a sandwich in the cart.  It was in a plastic box, we were on the 11th tee box and saw a crow go in the cart, it flew off with the box, about 15 ft in the air, it drops the box and the sandwich comes out.  I was laughing at my buddy until I realized another crow managed it get my hotdog. Those crows are pretty big.

Don't forget to eat a lot of Malpeque oysters on the 1/2 shell & lobster.

YUM!

PEI was a golf bucket list that we never made come to fruition and it's no longer on the list.

Have fun!

Thanks boys.  Everything is booked, hoping they don't shut the province down again to us from Ontario lol.  Pretty reasonable cost wise, except for the $2500 minivan rental prices!

Awesome…enjoy! I’m going to have to make a trip to PEI over the next couple of Summers, so look forward to hearing how it went for you.

Golfed some courses around Halifax last Summer and they were gorgeous…hopefully will make it to Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs next time I’m out there too!

We've done the Cabot Cliffs and Links trip, absolutely fantastic golf!  We were lucky doing it the first few years it opened   along with being the 4th group to ever play the cliffs.  The $125 we paid is a little better than the current costs I'll tell you that.

A bump n this question as I was wondering too for trip with my wife in June.  Scenic for her is good. Tough is not good.

Yeah, I’m still curious too. Haven’t made it to PEI to play Golf yet, but I’ll probably end up getting there before someone answers, Lol!

I posted on a Canadaian golf forum and got some help. I'm not looking for too tough  as I'm playing with my wife. We are staying in Cavendish and it looks like we will be playing both Belvedere and Countryview plus Eagles Glenn  and Red Sands (that is a 9 hole that I am told is popular with locals  and will hopefully be a comfortable ease- in after a cross Canada flight two days earlier). Do check out the GolfPEI.ca website.

If staying in Cavendish, I highly recommend you play Green Gables Golf Course in the National Park. It is a great track that will be suitable for both of you.

And you need to go for a New Glasgow Lobster Supper while you are there.

Thank you.  I've passed on the lobster dinner suggestion to the Senior Tour Director.

Input from another Forum was both plus and minus for playing GG.  GG was booked, then unbooked for play. Same for Eagles Glenn. Though we certainly will visit GG and also some of the touted eastern ones exploring on the five or six non-golf days.

Comfort for my  wife on course and that golf is not her major trip focus was of course a huge consideration.  Including comfort if she feels rushed in our group if we get paired or from behind, even though she is quick to pick up and move on.  If she is more comfortable and feels unrushed it helps me play better and enjoy my round better too.  We looked at course flyovers, input from others, and I considered  course ratings and scorecards if available.

So after some changes,  this is what I've booked in order of play and probably now it is a done deal:  Red Sands (18 holes), Countryview, Fox Meadow,  and Belvedere.

We look forward to the golf and the trip in general.   My wife actually started this process in 2019 when she ordered the Golf PEI booklet, figuring we might visit in 2020.  We know what happened to that thought.

Upon another recommendation (from a female golfer we know in Vancouver) we just booked Green Gables in lieu of Belvedere for our last round. I think we would feel we missed something not playing there anyway and I'll be very surprised if we don't have a meal there early in our stay.

You aren't likely missing anything not playing Belvedere.  Doesn't look like tall that much (haven't played yet, moved here 18 months ago but work down the road), had a ton of the big old trees come down from the storm, older 'members' are a bit snobby and I don't think highly of those who run it (they think too highly of themselves and the course for what it really is).  Only thing the course has going for it is location, other than that, much better options if you want to play.

Good to hear about us dropping Blevedere. So I think we are set (in order of play)  for Red Sands (18 holes), Countryview, Fox Meadow and Green Gables.
