100% all over the place! I had always assumed that a large, face balanced putter was the “easiest” to putt with. After practicing with the Tri-hot 5k 3 I realize I wasn’t really releasing the putter head and just shoving everything to the right (my normal miss).

Tried out this Bettinardi BB5 beauty for a bit but the Tri-hot 5k Two is the champ. All other putters are on the way out and a new Garsen Quad Tour grip is on its way.

Welp made a few changes and additions. First the Tri-Hot 5k Three is back in the bag.  The Two was the winner on the putting mat put the Three wins the on course battle. Additionally changed from the Glide 3.0 SS 58* to the TS 60*. I usually play a lower bounce lob wedge and the 10* bounce on the SS made for some umm interesting contact. Last 2 additions a PING Hoofer Lite Midnight bag and a Garsen x Odyssey Quad Tour grip.

Love the look of the 5k three. I can't get over how well the 5k putters do what is advertised. Picked up a double wide myself and like you said it sort of just reset my putting.  What is the difference in the tour issue version that you have?

Main difference is the sight line on the top line instead of the flange. It also has the gray stroke lab shaft instead of the red.

Oh wow, a gray shaft I would kill for that. I know they changed up the shaft from the original black one to the red. I can't stand the red, but I terrible to mess with the success by swapping in an older black one.

Totally agree on the red. I actually prefer the feel of the newer stroke lab shaft.  The black feels a little lighter and looser.

Welp I did a thing this morning…I had been trying out the standard MEZZ at the PGA store and was really impressed. Seems like the general consensus is the MEZZ MAX is even better. Did the online LAB fitting (received results back in less than 48 hours) and they recommended 34” 69* which fortunately happens to be one of the stock options. Now I wait, in hand photos and review to come.

L.A.B. MEZZ.1 Max came in. Right at 4 weeks from order to delivery. Really impressed with the quality and the craftsmanship of the club as well as the headcovers. Excited to get it out on the course.

The Mezz Max ended up as a failed experiment. I guess I am addicted to torque because I felt lost with the Mezz. So I am switching it up and committing to Armlock for the year…or until I miss a 3 footer.

Thanks! The Mezz was a weird experience. The center shaft part was fine I just really couldn’t feel the putter. Not sure if that was the no torque or if I should have ordered the “heavy” option. It put a great roll on the ball just didn’t feel very consistent at all with it.  I feel like with the armlock I eliminate as many variables as possible.

Welp the armlock was truly a disaster. Back to traditional putting.

Making some changes to add some forgiveness to the bag. New PING irons and wedges inbound.

PING G25 irons 6-SW and EYE 2 GORGE are in the bag and a new putter headcover. Really pleased with the G25. Forgiving but has non crazy lofts and not overly long club length.

Welp I still have a putter problem…here’s a couple of newly acquired PLD’s. 

 

First a LPGA tour issue BRUZER. It has LPG serial number, TR grooves (retail version had no grooves), very nearly face balanced (retail version had more flow) and the copper sole plate has no number. 
 

Second is a PGA tour issue PLD3. It has special sight lines and the copper sole plate has no number.

If you can’t tell, I stink at putting and have tried almost everything…almost. Finally broke down and tried the LAB DF 2.1. I hate this putter; it looks weird and is massive. I have spent hours on golf store practice greens and would never even pick up a DF. After a particularly horrid putting day decided to go to the PGASS and try out the LAB LINK unfortunately they didn’t have any in stock but they did have a used MEZZ Max and a stock DF 2.1. I ended putting for an hour and even though I putted way better with the DF I walked out with the MEZZ Max.  I then made the mistake of looking at the LAB outlet site and saw a DF in my specs with an Accra shaft for a decent price. Through three putting sessions DF wins hands down, I really like the T alignment line as that is all I see when I look down and ignore all of the other bits down there. Trying to get it out for a real round this weekend.  Here’s hoping my next post in here is about a club other than putter.

Best development of the week a box that arrives earlier than expected and a tee time shortly thereafter. Normally my boxes seems to arrive to my house as soon as I hit the golf course parking lot. Felt like I was losing out on some distance with the G25’s. Going to test these out and see how they do. I already like the more compact look, thinner top line and beveled sole.

I thought this was going to be the answer as I am terrible chipper.  I worked at it with this club and as much as I wanted it to be the answer, it wasn't.  Over time I found myself, in situations where it should have been the club to use, wanting to use something else.  I sold it at a loss and I don't miss it.  Hope you have a different result.

It will be interesting to try out. I used to use my lob wedge for everything inside of 50 yards so bought this as a way to force me to try to keep the ball on the ground more.  If I can get a few more chips into gimme range it will be worth it.

PING ChipR testing still on going. Hit some incredible shots with it but also could have potentially hit those with my 5 hybrid. I do think one benefit is the amount of spin you get for the loft. Would be interested to see if PING would release this in a slightly higher lofted version.
