Best Tampa publics within 40 min of TPA, not called Streamsong, Lakewood or Innisbrook? (I know those are a little further out)

 

also exclude TPC- sheet is full.

Have a buddy who lives in WestChase and he has always said it is in great condition.  Just very narrow from what I have heard.  Lake Jovita in Dade City is about 45 minutes and usually always in good condition.  I played there before New Years and it was in great shape.  Mangrove Bay in St. Pete is in great shape for a muni.  I go there often since it is only a few minutes away and the greens are always in good shape especially considering all the play it gets.

Dunedin Golf Club,

 

 

Tampa public golf is not great. You wouldn't travel to play any of them.

Yeah our area is tough for public courses that aren't waaaaay over played. 

Grew up in Dunedin and it's a cool Donald Ross course that's typically well maintained.

I live in St. Pete (Gulfport),  we often run south to Moccasin Wallow,  Buffalo creek,  and heritage harbour.   All reasonable $ and in relatively good shape.  

 

Been a while since playing the eagles so no clue.  However if you are willing to go that way maybe check Crescent Oaks and Fox Hollow.

 

Agree with Lake Jovita, typically a great track.

 

Play well and enjoy.

The last few times I played Eagles it was ok.  Never blows me away but also never disappointed in making the 30 minute drive to Odessa.

I am testing out Dunedin tomorrow morning. First time, see how it goes and will report back conditions

Dunedin is in desperate need of some work, and I think they are getting it next year. The fairways/tee boxes were mostly dirt. Greens in spots where the pins were, rolled great but outlier dead spots. Bunkers were great.

 

Played with someone and they mentioned the clubhouse got redone last year, and next year they are putting $13M into the course. That is a big number. They were already replacing 18 fairway as we played through. If they do that and do it right, the Ross greens will shine and be a good spot to go to. Not worth the $/time right now unfortunately.

Fox Hollow is one of the better semi-private courses around. Play it regularly, its always in good shape.  Prices are coming back to reasonable levels now that we're out of winterbird season.

 

Lake Jovita is a great choice.  I prefer the North course, which is longer and has more elevation changes but also more wide open.  South course is shorter and more narrow, but a good fit for seniors and/or golfers with strong iron games.

 

Heritage Harbor is in good shape and the greens are excellent right now.
