Starting from the 10th hole illegally

Course I belonged to many years ago had a strict rule that nobody could start on 10 w/out clubhouse permission, and permission would not be granted until 10 fairway was open and nobody was on 9, which was a par 3.

Stuff like that this drives me nuts. We have pretty full Saturdays, first tee time at 7:00 and a single tee start. We have to book three weeks in advance and there is competition for the times. So if we get first off, then come round the turn to see a group in the fairway it annoys me intensely. I don't care how quick they are, they haven't booked. We've had one group do it semi regularly, proshop just shakes their head and say, we'll we told them they couldn't. I'm so tempted to re-park my car after I've finished behind one of the offender's car and walk home.

If he didn't send them where did they get the carts? Do they have their own at the course?

they paid for a round and cart, but the attendant sent them to 1, not 10

A course where I live has back 9 morning rounds available for people who just want or have time to play 9 holes. Nothing wrong with that in my view. Makes sense for everyone involved. Makes money for the golf course and the players get what they want without running into any groups out there.

That's beyond frustrating, even more so when the clubhouse won't do anything about it. It's about the principle and they should have easily had someone drive down to the group and pull them off the course.

So, how is it illegal? Can you get arrested?

Oh, geez, I do this all the time at my club as a single or twosome. But I will only take the 10th if the 9th is completely empty and if the group on the 10th is on the green. At the 10th tee you have full view of the 8th, 9th, and 10th holes, so it’s very to easy to see how open it is.  I also will never cut in front of anyone on the 1st tee after finishing the back 9. I’ve never had a group catch me, and I’ve never caught the group in front of me. It works out very well in the summer when you finish the back and the 1st tee is completely empty because it’s already hot.

I'm like a fart in the wind at the course I'm a member at. But.... as a single you ain't catchin' me unless you're playing as a single and in that case I'm not cutting in front of you.
