I feel like he was and probably similar to JT has switched in and out.

 

Edit: Doing more research I don't know that he ever had the driver.. maybe the FWs?

He played that 915 all season last year I believe.  I remember seeing pics of his bag and it being in there.  I love that he is playing what works and not necessarily the newest product.

Yeah, just did some more research and it looks like the only thing he changed from 2020 to 2021 was his Hybrid (Titleist 816H2 to TS2).

 

So this setup in 2022 is the exact same as ‘21…looks like he’s never had any TSi2 or TSi3 in the bag or any equipment newer than 2020.

The putter change to the phantom from the Newport he had for so long was definitely the biggest change and it's obviously working!

That’s right.  I remember him playing the 120 x100 now that you mention it.  I tested those during the summer and they surprised me how much I liked them.

Yeah they are a great shaft - I think he has always played something a little lighter with his back problems earlier in his career - probably a good move for the majority of us.

Gotcha. Yeah, he played some absolutely incredible Golf in 2021, so makes sense he would stick with it!

Between the end of the season and how he performed in the Ryder Cup he's quickly jumped into my top 5 favorite guys to root for. Hard not to with his story. Loved seeing the emotion at the Ryder

Yeah, he was fun to watch in 2021 for sure! Sorry for not knowing, but what about his story makes it hard not to root for him? 
 

Just started getting serious about Golf and watching the PGA Tour 20mths ago, so still learning the whole landscape. Just did a quick Google search but couldn’t see anything stand out about his background story.

The cliffnotes based on my understanding is a rebuild of his swing after significant back problems. Tiger kinda spoiled us with the expectation that a pro can just change their swing and still compete at the same level or even improve. Patrick basically had to change his rotation and how/when he separated his hips and shoulders, something very non-trivial that he has come back from and risen higher after. It almost makes his 90 second preshot shuffle routine bearable. 😅

Ah gotcha, good to know...thanks. Yeah, love his demeanor on the course. So calm and collected in every situation, and his game is so polished.

I am envious of his swing because he produces a ton of power from what appears like minimal movement/effort.

I don't think the TSi3 ever made it to tournament play. The dude definitely knows what he likes and sticks with it. He was in the OG Diamana Blueboard all the way up to 2019 which is nuts. That is Henrik Stenson/Grafalloy Blue levels of old product commitment.

I find it interesting to see all these tour guys playing no irons longer than a 4I. When I was scratch in the 80's and 90's  I'd carry a 1 and 3 iron..... even if for the most part the 1 iron was used off the tee.  Of course now I carry a 1,5,7 & 9 wood and don't carry even a 4I, the 9 wood gaps perfectly with the 5I. And I still suck........
