Ping Glide 4.0 wedges - 2022 The American Express

I put these against my current wedges found in the signature on Trackman 4 indoors using my gamer ball with a dot.

I found that they performed about the same for me, but  I was so surprised to see my 1,5 season old Glide Forged lob wedge still gives me 10 000 + rpm of backspin, it was actually spinning more then the brand new Glide 4.0, but it could also be due to the ball actually wearing out along the 45 minute session.

But anyway I  I found the 4.0:s shape really nice, but was expecting a bit smoother feels..

No need for me to update to these but when I do, I'll keep them in mind. It's a shame these can't be ordered in S400 TI shafts from Ping..

You can absolutely order the Tour Issue S400 shafts in Glide 4.0 wedges, through a PING Retailer. There is an upcharge, but any PING shop can make that order.

You based in America? I live in Europe and had my fitting session with a Ping fitter that has worked with the company 30+ years and he said it's not an option and that I should order with DG S300 since it's so close to the the S400 TI.

Could be he was wrong or we just have different option here in the EU.

Interesting. I am based in North America, but I know PING Europe does a lot of the assembly locally. It could be true that is a shaft they don't have access to. Is the normal S400 available? I'm fairly certain the big difference there is really just tighter tolerance (on an already pretty tight tolerance) as they are handpicked and have a larger sticker.

Yeah I am pretty confident the fitter knew that in the end the performance/feel with the S300 would be identical. But for me the S400 TI has been so good for so many years now that I would prefer it. We didn't discuss about normal S400, but it's not an option on the Ping website so I wouldn't expect it to be an option too.

Do you know how much of an up-charge the S400 TI is in North America for Glide 4.0? I might need to go and ask my other local Ping retailer about the option.

What's the consensus on these overall? I don't see many on the auction site which is a good sign?!

I'm thinking of getting a set but maybe one to start with before shelling out $600. Part of it also depends on the lofts for the i210 replacement. If they stay with a 46* PW then I would do a 50/54/58.

I really want to love these. The traditional shape wedges look really good.

Now, those ES grind are supposed to be a modern take on the Eye2 wedge shape but I don't understand why that leading edge is so much more rounded? I have a large collection of Eye2+ wedges. The leading edge on these new ones is a drastic difference, and drastically different than the other grinds. Way too much for my eye.

Do you know how much of an up-charge the S400 TI is in North America for Glide 4.0? I might need to go and ask my other local Ping retailer about the option.

Tour issue might be $40 - $50 USD upcharge, but I don't think the normal S400 has an upcharge, I'm nearly sure both are available to order within NA. I have to imagine its available in Europe too. It's probably not on the website because it isn't listed as a "stock option", but there are some shafts that are readily available through PING, that aren't listed on the website. A good example is some of the older PING Shafts like the Z-Z65 and some other older shaft models.

If you are going to a big box store, they often have their own POS system with a very archaic drop down menu. They would probably have very limited options to choose from outside of the "stock" shafts that might be listed on the website. Any golf course or golf shop that has been around a long time probably submits orders the old fashioned way, by phone or email. That way, the PING team probably enters it on the spot with the PING Retailer. I'm sure it would be similar with PING Europe and I would recommend calling them direct for confirmation if the S400 is an option.

I have now had these for 3 months, and can report they are great. Feel and spin is awesome, and have an appealing look to them.

Very happy I replaced my Stealth 2.0's with them.

Great, on of the best wedges Ping has made. I only updated my lob wedge but so far it has been great for me, shape by the ball is really good.

I have a 3.0 60deg and just got a 4.0 58deg. At first glance the 4.0 Eye2 seems to have a softer point/peak at the upper toe and the leading edge of the 4.0 is still nicely rounded like its predecessor. Other than those not much is apparent [yet] as I've only played one round with the 4.0.

Signature!

Has anyone tried comparing the i525 set PW @45 and the Glide 4.0 @46 degrees? Thanks

I just came off testing i500 45* vs 3.0 46* - conclusion is I went a completely different route - blueprint @47*

Nice, but way too good for me. I m currently gaming Ping G425 irons 6-PW, wanting to move up to i525. Just not sure whether to order the i525 pitching wedge or pair with the Glide 4.0 instead.

I know this is irrelevant, but FWIW I find the Cleveland CBX2 wedge better than the Ping G425 set wedge.

I hit 3.0 46* higher & definitely more spin over i500 pw. Think I could control the trajectory better with i500 when swinging 85% and above. Like looks of the i500 over 3.0 as well. For greenside pitch & runs - glide was clear winner imo
