Ping Glide 4.0 wedges - 2022 The American Express

Way too rounded leading edge for this cat

I have another OG Glide inbound fwiw, nearly new, 47*

loving the steelfiber 125s so much in my 50-54-60 gen 1 glides I had to try the 47* to unseat my PW.  I will bend down to 45.5*

I've very pleaded with my 3.0 46* - game changing really. But can't believe how much I despised the 52/58 3.0

I'm with the consensus  - 2.0 Stealth is the GOAT

As an Eye2 player I’m glad they’re keeping it around. Several years ago I was hoarding like 3 sets of Eye2 Gorge wedges since they stopped making it. That sole and head shape is something magical and I hope they keep with it forever.

I tried the ES from the 2.0 but didn’t love it. I was hoping to since the 2.0 had way less offset than the old Eye2 Gorge but it just wasn’t the same. I guess I need the full out Eye2 head shape.

3.0 glides were my first set of ping wedges ever, and I really like them, mostly that the grinds seem to suit me well and I get really good spin with them, but a tad smaller head would be nice. I do like the leading edge and shape of the toe, which I feel is missing in the 4.0. But now reading this thread makes me want to find some stealth 2.0’s!

It looks like the i210 and i59 bumped uglies and had a wedge baby. They named it Glide 4.0.

new forged pro and this glide 4.0 have that curved leading edge and scooped lower hosel because PING knows that it wicks grass and water away from the face... problem is that no consumer cares about that, they are buying literally any other wedge that just looks half decent.

As an early am player who plays 9/10 rounds in wet conditions, I'm keen to trying these out. I actually really like the look of the 4.0 at address. I see posters complaining about it. Ping is obviously marketing two different preferences with their wedge lineup. Unfortunately, looks is so subjective and I'm sure Ping engineers were more concentrated on performance over looks.

If you haven’t tried the Glide Forged Pro 59 Eye Toe, you’re missing out.

Gotta be honest, I didn’t even know that was an option as I wasn’t a fan of the shape of Glide Forged or Glide Pro. However, you are right, the Glide Pro Eye Toe looks really good. I think I may order one and have it weakened a degree to take a little of the offset out….

Yeah I’m def in the minority on the straighter leading edge. Two pet peeves I have on wedges, 1 is obviously a curved leading edge, and 2 is when the bottom scoring line doesn’t go all the way across the face like the other grooves. I’ll just have to keep gaming my Tour S and Glide 2.0 Stealth wedges.

I'm the same way and the TM MG3's hit my sweet spot

Like many others, I loved the Glide 2.0 Stealth ES. Never a fan of the Eye 2 wedge.

But this version in the GFP is sweet. It opens up better than the Glide 2.0 ES. I tried it and fell in love. I'll be ordering one soon.

Looks versus form have been the knock on Ping for decades.  The Eye2 is one of the greatest iron designs in history and changed the game for most amateurs.  But...the first thing out of anyone's mouth is how ugly they are.  I still play my Eye2's and Eye2+ sets and agree that they are butt ugly.  But as long as they perform, I don't care.

The Eye2 wedges are my favorite of all time.  Second are Mizuno S-18.  As a testament, if there's money on the line today, my Eye2+ W, S, and L will be in the bag with my MP-18s.

On another note, I have a friend's set of G425 irons while he is recovering from a stroke.  Played them in a constant, light rain recently and was very surprised by how the hydropearl finish performed.  I was able to generate short game spin even with a wet ball and club face.

I wish they had this in the Glide 4.0 wedges.

I still play a Glide 2.0  ES .  I love the grind, but I'm not a fan of the Eye2 head shape.

This grind was actually surprisingly good before they went back to the funky high toe super offset version.  The ES grind on the 2.0 was just minimally  different but  had so much performance in it.
