Your favorite pieces of golf attire from the last year...

Recommended Posts

Wanted to start a thread for anybody willing to share their enthusiasm for any neat recent purchases! I like to see what personal favorites others have found and for what reasons.

Polos, Hoodies\Pullovers, Pants, Shorts, Shoes....socks!?

My favorite purchase of 2021 was True Linkswear (Link is attached) "True Lux Knit | Dead Golfer" golf shoe. I am typically indifferent when it comes to my shoes not having spikes, but this was a great shoe for my summer practices leading up to my tournament season. I was able to practice for hours in comfort, and it was a bonus that I find these quite stylish. Strongly recommend.

2nd was a Jones Golf jacket.  Jones offering an "Oswego Jacket" (link attatched), Co-Designed w/ Greyson. A great rain jacket that was on the lighter-side and much easier to make swings in compared to my heavier rain jacket from Footjoy

Interested in seeing what others have found over the last year or so. I like seeing the hoodies / pullovers especially. Hope we all find some cool stuff for 2022!

I got both the sport Lux and the lux knit dead golfer, both are awesome shoes.

I still have to go Public Rec pants from last season, full switch from Bonobos, way more stretch, better in hot weather, great fit.

I've been a Nike guy for many many moons. But I've started to move on. There are 3 items that I bought at the end of the year last year that have really stood out:

I bought 2 Greyson Comanche half-zips. They fit perfectly and they are a nice weight for cool weather with light rain. I have always balked at paying Greyson prices. I will keep balking, but I stole these on the 2nd Swing sale. It definitely piqued my interest in the rest of their clothing.

I also got a BDraddy polo from the same sale. Again, great fit, great material, and the quality is excellent. Again, not a brand that I would regularly afford.

Some of this stuff has made me think though, maybe I need to really look at quality instead of quantity. I have an entire closet of golf clothes (polos, mid layer, outerwear, pants, shorts, etc) because I like variety, and I like changing my color combos. A majority of that is Nike and Bonobos. But maybe I need to decrease the amount that I purchase, and just ahve higher quality stuff. I know my wife would be thrilled to reclaim some closet space.  NAH. I'll just end up with more clothes that cost more. LOL

The problem I'm finding in today's messed up world is the 'mainstream' Nike, Adidas, Puma are all the same prices as the PM's, Greyson's etc.  Maybe a $10 to $20 diff or so on a comparable product but I'd rather spend that diff on something more 'unique' that not everyone is wearing.

Heck I 'walk the local mall' sometime at lunch to get some exercise and just walking through Macy's I see their 'club room' brand clothes, things like vests, and half zips going for $50-$75 with no sale.

I just picked up some PM stuff at their end of season sale for an avg. of like $70 an item...would u want 'club room' or PM clothes?

I got an Adidas Cold Rdy Half-zip hoody at GG earlier this year, paid full price only cuz I had a $100 gift card.  While I love it, if I am paying $120 or whatever it was for an Adidas hoody, I'd rather go buy Greyson or PM.

Dicks sales suck these days, the days of finding an adidas polo for $20 discounted or a hoody for $30 are long gone I am finding.

Yeah, the reason I've stuck with Nike so long is because I know how it will fit, and I can find it on sale pretty easily. I generally dont pay full price for anything Nike. $30-40 is my sweet spot for hoodies and pullovers. So if I'm looking at Greyson or another brand like that, I'm looking at triple the price. Why would I need 3 Nike hoodies when I could have 1 Greyson? Why not just have the 1 Nike? Well... That is opening a can of worms into my hoarding. LOL

I find that PGA superstore has pretty good clearance racks at in person stores.

I made a huge mistake guys

The PM 50% end of year sale, I figured I'd get my wife a gift.  She isn't a golfer and a stay at home mom so she never buys herself 'nice' clothes, meanwhile i'm over here buying RLX, Greyson, PM for work/golf.

She freaking loves the zip up I got her 😏, then she saw some casual athletic shoes on sale there that she ordered...created a monster.

I retooled my inventory of golf/casual shorts in the last year.  Greyson Montauk and Black Quail are my two new favorites.  The Montauk shorts are a little heavier weight but super high quality performance fabric.  The Black Quail shorts are lighter weight but very well constructed performance fabric with nicer finishing touches like quality buttons, etc.

Their sales are about the only time of year I wish I wore a size XL or XXL in shirts. I'd have so many options to choose from!

Sadly, for us Medium guys we're left with the one or two (if that many) terrible pattern polos that they couldn't even give away to a charity.

Probably one of my 3 hats I got from Metalwood. Nostalgia for my middle school golf days gets me every time. I also started buying more Turtleson since their headquarters is down the street and I really like their stuff.

Old Navy Golf Pants are a find too, theyre just pants so I'm not over the moon about them but definitely over the moon about the price lol and will be my new go to.

I just looked up the Cokato Hoodie, those are sick! I like them a lot. Just very spendy for me

J Lindeberg pants; very comfortable and look good

Linksoul shorts; again comfort is everything

Cashmere hoodies on the course; light and warm

Ecco has come out with some nice shoes appearance wise the past few years. I feel they are very underrated

I am in the same boat, I have been purchasing less than but when I do I buy something that is of better quality. I have enough colors in my polos, pants, etc that I can mix and match. But I do need better quality. Lot of the stuff i have simply just get thrown out for either not being as comfortable as I thought they would be (Nike for example with a few rare instances of not being something id like) or the quality is poor such as my raingear being too restricting for the swing etc (past Nike and FJ rain jackets)

I find myself constantly pulling out my RLX cashmere hoodies. I picked up 3 when they were on sale. Also wear my Greyson Cokato hoodie as well. Picked up 2 pairs of Greyson Montauk pants and 2 pairs of the Montauk joggers. Very comfortable.  Rhoback 1/4 zips are very soft and comfortable. Always wear them off the course.

Workday Slim, and it appears they are being discontinued. They posted an archive sale on Monday, dropped price from $108 to $58, grabbed 4 more pairs.

Hey

i tried to pm you but it said you couldn’t receive messages

Can you tell me how the fit is in the waist and rear?
im usually wearing bonobos highland slim in 35 -32. They are a little big in the waist but fit good across the hips. Are they comparable in fit?
trying to decide whether the 34 waist would fit in public rec or just get a 36 and get tailored

thanks

I wear the tailored in Bonobos, wear same waist size in both, touch more room in hips, tapered below knee, they also make in a straight version, all free returns and exchanges, pretty easy process, CS is excellent.

mailbox cleaned up, thanks
