Didn't see one so apologize if this is a duplicate. Looks like the wind was a big issue for round 2, lots of high scores. Jamieson in the lead 1 shot ahead of Hovland and Poults.

 

Pretty good field with Pieters, Lowry a couple back and Scott, Hatton, Fleetwood making the cut. McIlroy and Morikawa right on the projected cut line but a lot of golfers still have to finish up tomorrow so maybe it moved if conditions are better?

Fantastic to see the wind get up. Some quality shot making and some pretty poor golf from other players. The green complexes are evil when the wind gets up.

I think the course has been great. Links-style golf is always super interesting when the wind gets up.

First time on this course for the ET. Holding up well to scoring.

Last I heard was Rory barely held on to make the cut… I put it on 15 min ago and he’s now -8 and only 2 off the lead! Whoa. 

*and now a bogey on the short par 4 14th. Ugh

Shot -5 yesterday and holed out for eagle earlier today

And Rory also holed a 60' birdie putt a few hole before his hole out. Leaking a bit of oil on 14 & 15. Made a 12 footer for par on 15. 3rd round leader having a tough final round. Same as Lowry. Nice comeback for Hovland to even for the round after an early triple.

 

ETA - Rory blew an engine on the way to the house.  🙄

He has history of winning in the Middle East swing so as much as I'd like Pieters to win, AS winning would be great.

 

I'm looking forward to seeing more of him on the European Tour this year, if only because I don't have to get up at 4am to watch like when he plays in the US

Nerves on #11 for Pieters? That was an awful bogey. Especially after the tee shot and bunker shot. WTH?

That was a fairly standard thing for Pieters. Just randomly has blow ups sometimes. Definitely opens the door though with Rafa, Holland and Scott not far back.

I liked Rors post-game interview in ref. to his 3W shots on 14 & 18 - both hard azz hooks.  Basically, sounded like the Tour Pros are in the same boat as the rest of us with the difficulty in finding the right 3 for their games and then actually playing it great from the fairway.

 

I wonder if it is the actual toughest club and shot to play in golf - 3 Wood off the turf?
