Tom Watson beats his age

Tom shot a 69 today in Hawaii and age 72.... His swing looks the same year after year. Decade after decade.

He's shot his age a few times over the last couple of years. Amazing. Jay Haas did it as well last year at age 67.  It's only been done by 4 players on the Champions Tour. Haas, Watson, Hale Irwin and Jerry Barber. Toms swing still looks so good.

Tom looks rough on social media.  He’s sitting on a horse or something.  He’s awesome but man, looks like he’s deteriorating faster now.  Could just be pandemic times tho

You are correct. Appears he did it later in 2021 after Haas had done it. He shot a 63 at age 64 after shooting 64 at age 64. Hat tip for the correction Hank!

Watson is probably more healthy and in better shape than most people.

If he's even up on a horse at 72, he's doing alright in my book; even if it is an unflattering picture that has him looking like the offspring of Tom Kite and Carl from the film Up.

I don't know if Tom Watson was/is a smoker, but I do know that is not Tom Watson.

Amazing that he almost won the 2009 Open at 59 years old.   That would've been one of the greatest sporting achievements of the century.

Two thoughts: 1) Tom will probably place his drive off the first tee at the Masters better than most of the players. 2) He should show up on that horse.

Watson just had hip replacement surgery in the last few months, I am surprised and very pleased to see him bounce back so quickly. I am guessing the hilly conditions of ANGC are the reasons he accepted the honorary starter role at the Masters..Still my favorite player of all time

Unfortunately Watson retired from playing the The Masters after the 2016 event.

One of the saddest endings to watch Tom lose the 2009 Open.  I was pulling for him to par the 18th and write some history that would probably never be repeated.  I'm still a bit crushed by it.
