Cold Weather Golf Pants

I've been looking through several of the threads that talk about jackets. I'm a diehard Under Armour fan, but Im considering buying one of the Ping jackets. Anyways, what pants do you all wear when you play in temperatures below 50 degrees? I've debated on fleece lined pants versus regular pants and leggings. Thanks in advance for your thoughts or go-to items.

Costco sells fleece-lined pants for around $20.   The pants work well in cold temperatures . . . . so much so that they are actually too hot if the temperature is above 45 degrees and you're walking.

Adidas, under armour and Nike all make a “fall weight” pant that work without any leggings in temps as low as 30s. I have adidas and UA and both have a light fleece liner on the inside and more robust material on the outside. I mostly walk but it’s all I ever need.

I got some grey eddie bauer fleece lined pants from costco last year for $20 and they have been great.  Look and stretch like any other golf pant.

Picked up a pair of Adidas winter weight last fall.

Tapered legs with zippers at the bottom.

Soft lining.

My legs don't get that cold.  I played yesterday, it was 25°F and a little windy. Chinos are fine.  Summer golf pants with thin long johns would work,  too.  Trial and error for your body is needed to achieve your maximum comfort level.

I really like these I live in MN and play a lot of sub 40 degree golf. They keep me toasty warm, are water resistant and wind resistant.

I wear my Nike Weatherized 2.0 pants, when, it is mid 40's and lower. If it is warmer, I go with Eddie Bauer Trek pants from Costco - windproof and water resistant, or, a similar pant from the Gap - performance Khaki. It helps, that I am a walker, if I were riding, I would likely go with a fleece lined pant. I had the Eddie Bauer Fleece-lined pant from Costco, but, I thought they would be too warm for me. If it were that cold, I could wear long underwear - Uniqlo heattech underneath my pants, but, I tend to stay warm by walking.

Yeah those Costco pants are absolutely amazing. I think the full name is Gerry Fleece Lined Hiking Pants and they are the most perfect cold weather golfing pant I've had

I'll add to the praise for the cold weather pants available from Costco.  Initially tried the Gerry pants, but didn't quite like how they fit (YMMV).  Returned and bought the Eddie Bauer Fleece Lined Tech Pants.  Better fit (some tech pants bag in the seat), stretchy, super comfortable.  It's winter here, so haven't golfed in them.  But sufficiently warm when I've taken periodic walks (last one was in 20*).  A fantastic bargain at $25.  Went back this week and bought a second pair in a different color.

I just wear regular, year-round golf pants with thermal leggings. 
 

If it starts to warm up I’ll just take the leggings off at the turn. I’d much rather have layers I can remove if needed then be stuck wearing thick, lined pants with no option to remove them if the temps increase.

Pricey but nothing beats Galway Bay for fleece lined winter golf pants.  That being said I just picked up a pair of the Eddie Bauer Ranier (non Costco) fleece lined pants and really like them.  

 

At $48 a pretty good value.

 

I also tried the Eddie Bauer Costco version but the fit somehow wasn't quite as good for me so I sprung for the extra twenty five bucks and got the Ranier.  Not as "dressy" as the Galway Bay but still a pretty good pair of pants for the money and plenty warm.

 

I have a pair of the UA fall weights and the Adidas fall weight as well but they're not nearly as warm as the fleece lined.

 

Different pants for different conditions and old guys HATE being cold!

I dont like having to have different pants for cold cold weather especially because everything is usually cheap or ill fitting in the weatherized category so I wear tights/leggings under them

Same.  These are very warm.  I can't wear them if it is over 45-50 degrees or I start sweating in them.

Same.  adidas Winter Weight pants are incredible.

Regular pants with longjohns/leggings are about as good as anything 

 

I have old UA winter pants that are good 

Galvin green windstopper also good

mizuno winter trousers that are almost too hot; haven’t used them much 

 

mizuno & gg legs have a bit of taper

If it’s below 50 I wear thermal tights and my regular pants or rain pants over them. I’ve played with temps in the 30’s and never been cold on the bottom half.

Just any old golf pants or jeans with my wind/rain pants over them and never been cold, never needed long underwear type garments underneath.  Keeping head and upper body warm is key to me.  I will wear some good wool socks, sometimes with a liner, depending on the socks.

I’ve got UA leggings, Galway Bay winter pants, and the Eddie Bauer lined pants from Costco.  The Costco pants are my favorites, hands down, and that’s putting price aside.  If you factor cost in, there is NO comparison.

 

They also have a DWR coating and do a pretty decent job of keeping you dry, though if it’s cold enough to need those pants AND raining, you’re probably not playing golf anyway.

I play frequently when the temperature drops. I suggest using your rain pants over your pants if you get cold and they are effective against the wind. I do not need the extra layer until around 5* C, or high 30’s F.

Leggings under golf pants for me, I always walk/carry unless playing somewhere walking is not ideal. Leggings are lighter in weight and will usually air out within a few minutes if you start to get really warm. 

 

I have a few pairs of the TSLA brand from Amazon that have a fleece like lining.

Ive posted about these before,  but there are no better cold weather golf pants than the UA coldgear infrared pants.   They're so warm that I use them when snowblowing my driveway.    Could even add a baselayer 3.0 to it for added warmth.

Columbia tech trail pant. They are fleece lined and water/ wind resistant. Picked them up for walking the dog but work incredibly well for golf. Also have good stretch to them as well

I wear my normal golf pants in cold weather, but throw on a pair of Uniqlo thermals underneath.  They’re thin so it doesn’t add a lot of extra bulk and it keeps me cozy.   Uniqlo also has a pair of pants for cold weather which I wear as well.

I just bought some of the Nike Repel Utility Weatherized pants on sale from TGW for like $70 and played in them last weekend. They were very comfortable and a good weight for colder weather. They have an interior fleece-like lining that gives them added weight.

I wear normal wool blend pants and quality UA long johns.  Works well in most cases.  If it's really chilly, windy, and cloudy I may slip on my rain pants too. Usually only need to do this if I'm in some sort of tournament or outing with friends and don't want to drop out.
