Nice.  Enjoy playing your Father's legacy clubs.  WITB for woods?  Persimmons?  Being that the irons and putter are choice, he must have something of similar sweetness.  Perhaps his playing skills will transfer through once you take them afield and give them a whack.

Have my Father's Ping K1 irons.  They don't put hair on my chest, but I take them out once a year for a remembrance round.  When I want to feel manly, I attempt to hit shots with my Apex II's.   The mishit stinging sensation serves as a reminder that I'm lacking in the skill and confidence department.  2 iron, no way.  PW, stand a chance.  "A man's gotta know his limitations."

I was thinking about woods.  While he always played blades he did transition into modern woods.  I know he has some persimmons but he may be too attached to them (like his tommy armour blades lol).  It does seem wrong for me to head out with those blades and my Sim2 driver, so I suppose I’m going to have to track down a persimmon driver one way or another.  Next time I’m over at his house I’ll have to snag an older 56 degree wedge and then I’ll be all set for some sentimental rounds with his clubs.

I can already feel my fingertips tingling as I thin the first warmup shot at the range with those...

Make sure to use some Balata balls too.  Or at least an old Voit with the grid dimple pattern

Nah.  Blades are blades.  How different are they from more current versions?  Play the VIP's, bag the Sim.  Play whatever you want.  No rules.  Mix and match.  FWIW, vintage modern metal is a thing around here as well.

But I'd head over to his place and snoop around to check out what he may have on hand that's made of wood.  Just out of curiosity.  Maybe he will let you "borrow" them for a round or three.

Really nice set of good looking irons. That two iron teaspoon will definitely give you a thrill when you eventually find the sweet spot. Nothing like a pure long iron to put the love of the game back into you! Enjoy the time with your Dad and now you'll have some awesome mementos for the rest of your life. Good stuff indeed!

Awesome! Enjoy those, they are a challenge, but very rewarding when you do hit them well. The connection to your dad is an added bonus!

I hope my son enjoys my Staff Blades and persimmons someday (but not too soon!). I love playing them a few times a summer.

I’m sure he still has some kicking around.  That will really bring back memories.  He would get so mad when I would steal his balata balls. I wanted to play them since he did but lord did I put smiley faces all over them.

Clint has a lot off good lines.  "There's nothing like a nice piece of hickory" seems to fit well in this forum too.  😉

Just want to re-echo this. Nothing wrong with playing old irons with modern clubs. In fact, I've a set of RAM Camber Soles in my modern bag right now that I will be playing with later in the week.

Modern woods and hybrid, old irons. Not a problem.

Does anyone know approximately what year these woods were produced?  Im Thinking about getting a driver to go with them that is a similar vintage.

Unfortunately I’m also going to have to swap the shafts out.  The s400 just beat me up too bad, even on the simulator I was hitting them on.  I had to go graphite as at 43 years old my back, left elbows and wrist are already a mess, but I I’m not sure if I’m going to go that far or not.  Maybe just some s300’s or s200’s.  Then again, there are no rules to what I’m doing, other than have fun and enjoy my dads clubs, and I do have an extra set of steelfibers and recoils laying around so maybe I’ll just throw them in.
They are not valuable in a way that would make changing the shafts to make them playable for me a bad idea, are they?

You could always try Elevate Tour shafts, or get the Billy Bob's version of sensicore for the current DG shafts.

Or, get some graphites for them.

Disclaimer:  I'm a fan of reshafting to make use of clubs.  Display sets aren't my thing.
