Farmers Insurance Open 2022

Prepare yourself for background shots of paragliders and the sea - it is time for the Tour to head back to Torrey Pines for the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open. Whether it’s Tiger starting his season and winning around Torrey so often, the challenge of the golf course or that it always seems to follow on after a ho-hum week at the Bob Hope, this often feels like the PGA Tour really getting into the swing of things for the year. This time around, the Tour have taken the decision to play Wednesday through Saturday to avoid coming up against the NFL playoffs. The first two rounds will see the players go round the North and South courses before finishing up on the South course on Friday and Saturday. Whether this years will run into issues with plug lies remains to be seen 😉

I like how the schedule is laid out now... done before NFL Playoffs (although I still wish they'd have 4 playoff events / rounds to match other sports), the Ryder / President's Cup, then the start of a new season that goes relatively unnoticed, except for a few events.

 

Finally Hawaii which we can all enjoy the scenery of, and then the Farmer's Insurance out in San Diego to kick-off main network coverage on CBS. 

 

Things get more intense as things go on too, culminating in the season's 5th Major at the John Deere.

So what's the deal w the course? One track looks a lot longer, both par 72.

Is this one where big hitters are 2 clubs less into greens, or is it tighter the longer you are?

the South Course was redesigned a few years back by Rees Jones in order to get the US Open and can be stretched out to 7500-7700 (I Think)...the North course to my knowledge is still around the high 6k in distance....havent lived in San Diego since the early 90's

North was redone as well.  It can go over 7200 now.

Was there the other day and place looks good. 

the weather is going to be near perfect.

 

but this will be much higher scoring than Hawaii or Palm Springs.

good comparision he is 51 Johnson is 28, Phil won on the PGA tour in college, won the US amatuer, 45 wins, 6 majors and you compare him to a guy having a hard time breaking 80. i think Mickelson has a just alittle less to prove
