Wicked Ping Setup

I went with the Eyes over the legendary Eye 2s because of smaller profile.

 

Dropped 3 & 4 irons, replaced with 7 & 9 woods cut to respective iron lengths.

OK, this is super cool! Very desert dragon / reptilian vibes going on, especially with the gold paint fill's on the irons.

 

That color scheme is so well thought out it is hard to tell what came first, form or function? Love it!

 

Ping fairways are pretty long, seems like you would need to cut off quite a bit of shaft on the 7 and 9 to get them to iron length. How did you compensate for swing weight? Guessing the + setting helped a little bit with the lies......

Thanks for nice comments!  I had to remove around 3 1/2” on each - was hitting both too long for what I needed.  Never checked swing weights, clubs felt great after shortening, never lost feel for club head in swing.

Interesting that you can lob 3.5" off the FWs will no ill effects. I imagined the lie angle would be way too flat for that length and the swing weight ; wouldn't it lower swing weight by like 20-25 points?

 

I also prefer FW heads to hybrid heads.

Since folks were asking about my 7 & 9 wood modifications, here’s my 9 wood length, checked SW at Pro shop before play today, B3, lol!

Well, the nice thing about most newer Ping woods is, if the shaft length becomes an issue, just put in a new shaft with a twist of a screw. Problem solved. I've personally done this with several of my more modern Ping woods. Shafts with Ping fittings are cheap and easy to source, and it really expands the offerings on the market over stock shafts.
