I have played with Ryuji dozens of times at Avila Country Club in North Tampa.  He is a great guy - hardly ever plays competitive golf these days.  Short game is on another level, what he can do with a 60* wedge blows my mind.  I have also seen that bullseye putter in action....

 

Hope he plays well this week.

You can say that again. One OWGR event in the last 5 years and it was the Zozo last year where he finished in absolute last place in a no cut event like +17 or something. I need to see a picture of Ryuji for proof of life at this point.

LOL.  He is basically retired.  Does some commentary for Sky Sports Japan for a few tournaments a year.  Just chills in Tampa and plays golf once in a blue moon and when he does - its a hit and giggle.

The best part is that one OWGR event got him 2 fedex cup points which contributed to him getting in the field this week!

I played with him in high school... was wondering what happened to him but I'm glad to know he's still around even if he's not playing much competitively.  His short game has always been phenomenal, but his ball striking was also incredible... I remember the first time I played with him all of his irons had dime/nickle sized wear spots on the middle of the face.  I think I beat him once in a nine hole match.  By a shot (35-36).  And he was sick that day.

I just went on the Proto Concept wedge and built a wedge that sounded nice for my specs.  Nearly spit out my coffee when I saw the $430 dollar price tag for one wedge when I got done.

I read that they were originally just known as Concept irons and were priced at $79.99 per club.

 

However, after they added the word 'Proto' for some reason the price shot up by $350. 😉
