Already has switched from the 5 to the 7 in the driver.

 

Wonder if that's a good or bad thing for Srixon so far...

I was surprised to see him in the ZX5 initially. I bet they were able to make the tweaks to give him the performance along with the more traditional look. He also went from a 9.5 in the ZX5 to a 10.5 in the ZX7.

Why would it be a bad thing? Plenty of guys jump around between heads made by the same manufacturer.

He just seemed to bail on the 5 head rather quick. Just didn't know if that's a good think for a manufacture.

But why would it be a bad thing for a tour pro to move between heads? Especially considering he's going from the "Game Improvement" head to the "Tour Inspired" head. 

 

I mean Adam Scott went TSi4>Tsi2>TSi4 last year and most of the TM staff jumped back and forth between Sim2 and Sim2 Max. Was that somehow bad for Titleist or Taylormade?

As Matsuyama won the Masters with a Zx5 driver in the bag, I'm sure Srixon aren't losing any sleep over Koepka's switch.

Personally, I think Brooks has been hitting the irons and wedges well, and putting similarly to last year. Switching from the Sim2 changed his driving. The Srixon ZX5 9.5 seemed to come out of a lower window than previous drivers of his.  Being out of position off the tee hurt his iron game, which is usually pretty strong.

I'm sure the stats don't support this theory, but after he got rid of his M5, he tried a Callaways / SIM2 line, he seemed to be a bit more erratic off the tee. He was almost like a robot with the M5 in the bag. Maybe it's the injuries or something else, but seems like he is searching for something

 

Again, I'm sure stats say otherwise, but just a general perception from the rounds I've watched

Well, let’s put it this way, you don’t see many players, pro or amateur, move out of a piece of equipment that they see as being dialed in.

I would have loved to the see face of the M2 Tour and the Vaper 3 iron. He has had them so long I bet that wear mark looks SICK.

Obviously it's a small sample size but he was much better last year SG approach than this year.   In 2021 he was pretty close to his best year 2018.  This year he is good obviously but not world class.  Hoping that improves as the year goes on.  His game is a lot like Tigers in regards to his approach.  If he is banging out SG on the field in a tourney from the approach stat he is going to win some tourneys.  He is still murdering the ball off the tee so those SG are a given (generally).

If anything maybe the opposite, they have sold tons of ZX5s after the masters win. Maybe they move more 7s this way.

My buddy who's a +4 cap and once worked for Cleveland/Srixon as a rep has one in his bag.  He let me try it and it's really solid.  Very underrated head that flies under the radar.
