Taylormade 2022 mb/mc replacement?

P7MC I would think would be in line with the Titliest CB's.  T100's would probably be more in line with the 770's.

in the TXG live testing of the new TM irons they said the t100 is in a category of its own - somewhere between the 770s and p7mc. something akin to the p760 (wink wink, nudge nudge Taylormade...)

Yeah sort of. But tbh that 'spot' would be more like the old P760. It seems to be between what the T100 is and a MB.

In recent modern iron progressions you have;

Blade (P7TW) > MB (620MB, P7MB) > Forged CB (P7MC sort of and P760 actually, T100, XForged, Apex TCB, ZX7) > Small Tech Packed CB (T200, Apex Pro, P770, ZX5) > Large Tech Packed CB (Apex, P790, T300) > Game Improvement (T400, Apex DCB, ZX4) > Super Game Improvement ('Max' and 'OS' irons like the yearly sets Rogue Max, SIM, Stealth, etc)

The placements in the above are based on size of the cavity and blade length and topline, VCOG, relative MOI and etc.

While I agree conceptually with the grouping, I feel the previous gen P770 and Apex Pro sit more in their own category. To me they are very different than the T200 and ZX5 but agree they are not quite in the T100/zx7 level.

Driver: Ping G430LST - Diamana GT 60tx

3 Wood:  TM Stealth 3W - Diamana GT 70tx

5 Wood: Ping G430 Max 5W - Tensei Pro Orange 80tx

Irons: Taylormade P770 4-PW - Modus 130s

Wedges: Vokey SM8 50.14F Modus 130x, SM9 54.12 - 58.12 - Modus 130x

Yep. Lots of differing performance and opinions at the end of the day with the tweener models. Sole width, blade sizes, amount of foam and cavity size, face thickness, etc - between OEMs - leads to lots of variance.

End of the day though theres lots of people asking TM to re-release something like the P760. I dont think anyone asked for the P7MC tbh

very true. Especially when you start to introduce different swing dynamics which cause each iron set to react differently. These “categories” get even more blurred. For instance, ZX7 for me was lower spin and more forgiving than 2020 p770. But one would expect the opposite based on category.

I buy that assesment for sure, although as a 770 player myself, if I were to look at the Titliest line, the T100 would probably be where I'd look, or maybe some form of T200/T100 combo.

Is there tho?  There's like 5 people on this forum looking for them, not sure I'd say that's a lot.  I've yet to hear anybody outside of this place ask to bring them back, or even know they existed in the first place for that matter.  I ask my buddy who works for TM about these clubs a while back and he said he's had zero requests since they went away, and they were not a great sellers when they were available.

The looks would need to be improved to obtain non-club junkie appeal most likely.  Looks/size aside, a lot of the pieces of the p760 were awesome; soft steel, pre-worn leading edge, progressive tech etc etc.  It's weird that all of that is gone from the lineup now.

if you look at Ian from TXG live stream of the new irons even he was gently hinting to TM to bring back the p760..I think when they came out we didn't know a lot about speedfoam irons, ball speed increases between speedfoam and non speedfoam irons and also the knowledge of loft tweaking to manage some of those changes. I think with success of p790 and p770, people realize the benefit of forgiveness of speed foam in longer irons and hence we wish p760 was back in the offering to blend the solid iron with speedfoam counterpart without mixing and matching heads from different lines.

I'm not insulting, it's just facts that there's very little demand for it.  TM is a company that is all about their marketing and making a buck, if these irons made them money, they would have never went away.

Instead of complaining about it, just recognize that TM doesn't make an offering for you and go find a company that does.  Every manufacture out there right now is making fantastic equipment, you're not missing out on something by moving to another brand that has something that suites your game better.

i230 are going to replace my 760's.  They don't have 'speed foam' per say in the 7iron, but the carry distance is almost exactly the same

I230's are sweet, and a much better looking club than the 760's!

I wouldn’t say there’s no demand for it. That’s like saying there’s no demand for a T100. P7MB = 620 MB, P7MC = 620 CB, P770 = kind of like t200 with weaker lofts? In any case, it isn’t a tour iron with a bit of tungsten, it’s a players distance iron that’s slightly smaller than 790. Great for long irons though. They just don’t have that direct competitor to t100 IMO which is the most played iron on all tours. T100 is far and away the best option for someone that wants to look at a blade but can’t quite play them on their bad days. I’d argue nobody does it close to as well from a full package perspective and TM definitely could.

What irons are you in now?  I have to say, I am loving the idea of getting back into a more traditional iron.  I picked up some i230 since the lofts seemed similar to what I had used in my last set of PXG.  But, so far, I am finding them to go longer than I would like.  At least indoors on a sim.  They'll be on a short leash once our season starts.  Won't hesitate to drop them for the P7MC should they not be a perfect match for me.

Exactly what I was recommended too. Hit them yesterday against the T100, 223, 230, and TCB and these were the winners with the 230 coming in a close second.

Hit the P7MC along with P770, same shafts in both heads. P7MC was night and day better for me. Looks, feel were excellent and consistency of launch and spin was superb. Didn't see much difference in forgiveness either.

Went to buy the raw 2020 mc’s and just missed it as TM pulled them from the website. Being lefty it will be hard to find a set I guess. Moving on to something else if I gotta play the regular chrome 2023 version.

The MCs are looking like they'll be my first TM set. Any one out there know how TM would increase the swing weight on these? I know each OEM has their own method but don't know a lot about TM. Thanks
