LA GOLF L-Series Iron Shafts

Recommended Posts

L Series are 120g, .355 tapered, perfectly flighted with the 16 sided tooling. Pat Perez is gaming the X. L is said to have a softer feel than the Bryson Series (Bryson only comes in one length, but may be expanded to regular soon).

I’ve played a bit with the Tour AXS Blu 105 shafts and absolutely loved them, but they’re hard to come by, not to mention they’ve been replaced. I was wondering if anyone has tried the L-Series and had any thoughts they could share.

AXS Blu has been replaced with the A-Series. The L-Series is a different animal

Wondering something similar. I reached out to LAGP and they said they are similar to 120 x100

Is the L or A series closest to DG x100 120g?

Thanks

I put in the A-Series low launch/low spin X flex into my irons and absolutely love them. Tighter dispersion vs. the Nippon modus 120X and much less whippy through impact. Although, they feel much stiffer through the downswing and you don’t get the same sense of loading at the top, as you do with the modus. I feel like I have better control of the face all the way through the swing though.

I’ve been playing a bit with a pro that hit some shots with them and he didn’t like how “dead” they feel through impact though. To each their own though.

Also worth noting that I’m not getting any more or less distance with these over the modus on the course. On the LM, I can step on these and get a few more yards over the modus, but only a negligible amount - about 4 yards.

Lastly, I typically build all my clubs myself, but I wouldn’t recommend doing it yourself with these unless you have quite a bit of experience building irons with graphite shafts. Getting the swing weights even close to D4 was a colossal undertaking. The shafts are about 18 grams lighter and are .660 at the butt. As a baseline, the clubs were all coming in around C8 without tip weights. I initially bought the tip weights from golf works, but had so many issues with matching up the SW’s and lengths (4g tip weight added 1/4” and 6g added 3/8”) that I had to buy from Billy bob - the only website that had tip weights that didn’t add much length). The real issue is that after you tip trim the shafts, you can easily fit the graphite weights in the 6-PW, but the center bore is too small on the 4-5i to fit anything bigger than about 3/32” and the 3i isn’t tip trimmed at all, so no weight is going to fit in there. I also tried the high density lead tape route, but realized I would need 1.5 rolls on just 8 irons to get me back to D4.  Moral of the story is save yourself countless hours and headache + the potential cost of buying additional shafts to replace any mistakes and spend the money to have them installed.

I have the L-series in my 52 and the L-Series WV in 56 and 60.

L-Series feels very stable but not super stiff like a C-taper. Really cant explain how it feels or what it would compare to other than saying I like it so much that im going to put it in my Mizuno's

I reached out to a rep and was told the Bryson series shafts in Stiff are still stiffer than the L-Series X. It's not that the L-series play soft, its that the Bryson series are so darn stiff

any comparisons on the L-Series and Recoil Prototypes? I currently play 95 F4's hard stepped, although I should arguably be playing something much more stout.

Just installed the LAGP hybrid shaft in the 3 iron. Played 9 yesterday and really liked the feel.

It’s stiff, but smoother than both my driver and 3 wood (both of those are tipped though).

My fitter discovered that my 5 and 7 PX shafts are slightly bent (most likely from flying) so I ended up ordering the L series to test in both high and low irons. I’ll let you know how the L series feels/performs here once installed.

Nobody on WRX has played them?

The L-series are ridiculously good! Super super stable shaft without feeling boardy like a C-taper. Very linear muted feel. No load or kick. They dont feel dead like C-Taper's but overall there isnt much feel or load. I dont mean that in a negative way. I hated C-tapers, the L-series just feel smoother.

They're a little heavier at 120g than my other set with Fuji Pro Tour Spec 115tx that actually feel kind of the same

Have you ever played Modus 120/125?

played 120 and 130. Does not feel like either of those 2 I mentioned. Definitely more stout than 120 but smoother than the 130's probably just bc of the weight difference

Its really hard to describe bc its pretty unique in my opinion. You dont really feel a load or kick but its not stiff feeling like C-taper's

The Modus lineup would be the last group of shafts I would compare these to. If I had to pick a shaft I would say Project X LS.

Thanks! I played the MMT 105 and 125 in the past and I'm a big fan of the Modus 125. The L series seems to have a pretty unique bend profile as far as iron shafts are concerened.

I still have not hit the MMT's and they have been my biggest intrigue....but honestly the Fuji pro spec and LAGP's are both so good I really have no desire anymore to try them

All I can say is the L-series are not stout at all. The rep said the Bryson series in stiff is stiffer than the L-series x flex

thats good to hear. I would fit into their "Stiff" profile and hate shafts where you feel nothing

Thanks for adding this. I’m playing 120 x100 and advice on how they compare? I’m really close to pulling the trigger.

What’s the verdict? Would love a review of the iron shafts.
