How is golf in Westchester, NY?

I am new to the area and was wondering what pace of play and tee time availability is like for weekday (not weekend) play at the Westchester municipal courses (ie Saxon Woods, Maple Moor, Hudson Hills). I imagine that tee time availability and pace of play on weekends are far from ideal, but I am trying to gauge what to expect for weekday play.  I am hoping to get out for 9 or 18 holes once per week, if possible.  I am also on the waitlist at Rye Golf Club and am in the process of inquiring about Bonnie Blair, so any insight on more affordable and/or more attainable club memberships is appreciated as well. Thanks.

I live in Westchester and play frequent Westchester county courses.

They can be slow but most the time somewhere between 4.5-5 on weekends.

I work full time so I don't get to play during the week, but I would imagine pace of play should be a little faster?

I don't belong at any club, but I do believe you need couple members to back you up to join Bonnie Blair as most Westchester private clubs.

Rye, Inwood, Westchester Hills might be a little easier to join.

The golf situation in Westchester is rough.

I've had such bad experiences regarding pace of play that I won't golf any of the courses south of 287.

The pace of play at Hudson Hills is usually pretty good, but the course is quirky as heck.  Mohansic is located in an area where there's an abundance of senior living, so the course gets really backed up.  I know you can get on Lake Isle but I can't speak about it as I haven't played it myself.

I'm on the Rye waiting list as of last year.  I checked in with them yesterday and they are getting everything worked out by 3/15 so we will have more info then.  Generally speaking, I enjoy my golf experience much more the farther I go north.  I will often golf in Putnam and Duchess county.  The Griff is a good option as well right on the westchester border.

I have nothing on Bonnie Blair for you.

I moved from White plains NY to Stamford CT.

Private clubs (playing same 18 hole) is not my cup of tea. But check out some in Stamford, CT area

As a member mentioned, the pace of play is horrible at all Westchester Muni's (especially on saturday) but weekday Mon-thru should be perfect. But there is also great golf course in CT/NY on I95, Sprain parkway and CT-15/Merritt parkway/Hutchinson Parkway to enjoy.

But have a look at this offer for this year

Good Luck.

I hope you were able to get off the Rye wait list for this season. I am pretty low on the list so still looking for other options.

Anyone with good or bad experiences at Lake Isle?
