Looking for a Driver for a good price

My friend is just starting to get into golf, but he needs a new driver. He's looking to get something that is in good/excellent condition and a good driver, but no more then $100 shipped. I was thinking of something off ebay like a new Nike Forged 450cc driver for about $75 shipped. I was looking for thoughts and opinions on this driver as well as suggestions on others.

The best deal in golf right now is the TaylorMade R580XD drivers, which are EASILY available for under $100. Make sure to look for an upgraded shaft (Aldila NV, Graphite Design, etc. etc.), rather than that POS OEM MAS2 shaft.

I was also going to suggest the R580XD. Very large head (440cc's) long and forgiving for the average golfer. As far as a specialty shaft, I wouldn't worry about that right now. If your friend is just getting into golf, the stock shaft would do just fine.

Check out the "Pre Owned" section in your local shops. A place like Golf Galaxy or Golf Smith will let you hit the club in the store.

I like the thought of the TM. What about a GBB 2 Driver in either the 415cc or 380cc?

TaylorMade R580 XD is a great driver. One of the best TM has produced. I had a GBB 2 and liked it. Good no nosence driver. Either would be a great snatch.

another option would be the Callaway 454 for the same reason

I just picked up a new Launcher 400 for just under $100 at Golf Galaxy. Got fitted for an 8.5 with an NV stiff shaft.

Can't wait to hit it. All I've got to say is my Launcher 460 Comp might get benched. :dntknw:

Ping G2's can be had on ebay for very cheap these days. If you look for long enough you will find one under $100.

Launcher 400. Very good driver with great distance and can be had for under $100.

ignite 410... nuff said...and if he needs a stiff fuji ignite shaft.. let me know..

 

here you go... IMHO.. better then then TM580XD.. and the shaft is 10 times better.

Nicklaus Airmax 440ML - I've seen these sold brand new on Ebay for around $100. My frequent golf partner plays one and I've hit it often - I like it just as much as my Launcher Comp. The Launcher 400 would also be an excellent choice but I think the stock Fuji shaft in the Nicklaus feels and performs better than the Launcher gold Fuji shaft.

TM 420, 400 cc, easily less than a C note, stupid easy to hit, goes straight and long, much better stock shaft than any of the TM 500 series line. The most under rated driver TM has produced.
