Hotel recommendations for Phoenix/Scottsdale

Thus far, the courses I want to play are: 1. Quintero. 2. Wickenburg. 3. Wekopa. 4. Grayhawk Raptor or Talon. 5. Troon North Pinnacle. I'm planning on playing at least four of the five if not all five.  The pricing of the courses in August will dictate how many I actually play.  I'm looking for hotel recommendations.  Some place that makes these courses fairly accessible for a guy who has never been to Phoenix.  I'm thinking in the neighborhood of $125 a night with wifi, a pool and some restaurants nearby.  Hyatt Place Old Town in Scottsdale was recommended on the AZ Golfers Group on Facebook.  It fits pretty well with what I'm looking for.  Does anybody here have another recommendation or knowledge of Hyatt Place?  One guy recommended Mariott Desert Ridge.  At $844 a night, it's a little out of my range. 😆

If you stay in Old town its close to a lot of restaurants but its 30min to the closest golf course you listed. Maybe the Hyatt house in North Scottsdale. Just had some buddies stay there and its close to the 101, 10 min to grayhawk, 15 min to Troon and sits kind of in the middle of wekopa and Quintero/Wickenburg.

AT 125 that gets a little tough...plus the walking to things.  Hyatt Place and Hyatt House will be the clear options to get everything in.

 

There is Embassy Suites and a Doubletree as well in the downtown area.  Sonesta Suites is actually a decent spot too.

 

Scottsdale resort at Camelback or at Mccormick - are 2 options but a little further away.

 

Hotel Valley Ho is a cool spot if you can swing a bit more.

My wife and I took our first trip to Phoenix/ Scottsdale last October and stayed at Hyatt Place North. It seemed newish, with reasonable rates at that time, nice and clean, and put us in a good location for the courses I played. I didn't play We-ko-pa cuz of seeding, but we took the 30 min. drive out there and beyond just to check it out and explore the area. Awesome place...can't wait to go back and play there. On the way back to the hotel we ate at Pietro's (next to Eagle Mountain Golf Club) and it was excellent. Great food and top notch service.  As for Hyatt Place, there was no food yet at the hotel, but maybe there is now or will be by August. There are decent restaurants nearby and a sports bar & grill with a good happy hour right next door. Food there was so-so, but it would do in a pinch. For beers and watching a game its fine. We will stay @ Hyatt Place again if we go back and play other northern courses.

125 ppn is going to have you at a Travelodge. If you are in the summer you may be able to get a STR condo/house depending on amount of guys.

I found a Hampton Inn with a pool in north Scottsdale for $84 a night.  The hotel rates fall in the summer.

Maybe look in the Cave Creek area too? Old town Scottsdale is great but so is Cave Creek and I think you would be closer to all the courses you're playing staying in the Cave Creek area

Hampton Inn, Residence Inn and Courtyard at Bell/Frank Lloyd Wright and Scottsdale.

These should all be close to your budget.

 

5 minutes to Grayhawk, 15 to Troon North, 20 to We Ko Pa and an hour to Wickenburg from 101 and Scottsdale with no traffic

 

Keep in mind it's 85 miles between Wickenburg Ranch and We Ko Pa.

I should have jumped on the Marriott when their price was $84.  It's more now.  Grrr.  Hyatt Place Scottsdale North is $83 a night.  Do you know if they have refrigerators in the rooms?  Hyatt House Scottsdale-Old Town appears to have a full kitchenette.  It's about $50 a night more though, but I'm particular about my food.  Plus, it would be nice to have cold drinks available.

There is a Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers plus couple other bars in the parking lot. Most Hyatt Places have fridge but I'd call and ask. It is pretty new.

Gainey Ranch Hotel and Spa are amazing.  Do breakfast at the restaurant in the AM and enjoy the acres of pools during the day.  Also a course there, but prob too exclusive.  Its the kinda hotel that just makes you happy to be there.

Hyatt near Grayhawk has a fridge no hot tub though
