For us Aussies, looks like we are getting the full 4 days live and available on replay and a full days play each day inc 5 hours on Sat and Sun (Kayo/Foxtel).

Live is 2pm Thurs/Fri & 2.30pm Sat/Sun.

So much better than last week's sub-standard offering.

So glad to hear it. Yeah, overall the coverage is mediocre at best, but at least in North America we get the majority of the tournaments at decent prices hours. Glad those in East Asia and down under can watch a few events without pounding Red Bulls. Lol.

should work with a VPN but in Canada straight up paying won't work they have the disclaimer about rights and GC won't give those up even if they are geoblocking the locations

No Red Bull for me… I’ll take 100 plus and/or pocari sweat instead…

Thanks in advance to my Aussie friends for Fox 505 tonight… no need to wait till 1am! 🙂

Much prefer this event's commentary team to last week's, more relaxed and less superfluous chatter.

@RapidcatYou got your wish. w.r.t. some male voices in the commentary team (i.e. a mix of not-just-female voices who all sound the same)

I've just switched-on the broadcast...

Can you recognise the voices?

(i think i hear Kate Burton... +Ali Whitaker... and possibly Timothy Low a.k.a. "The Blonde Dragon"(!) ...

..and possibly Dom Boulet? )

..p/s: Photos of last week's commentary quartet = per this Link: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca4d4VfB-W0/

Yes, spot on, its Tim and Dom, they're good.

The gender blend is much better IMO and the four commentators are interacting nicely (incl Kate and Ali). Just a bit more relaxed and less filler.

i quite enjoy the "filler" short TV segments

e.g. the bit just shown re the Thai ladies who competed for a local spot in the tournament?

Siam Country Club = hosting the event this week. Quite posh... has anybody played the Old Course?

Yes, I'm with you on those segments.

I just don't like the golf commentary where there appears that no-one takes a breath. The voice differential between female and male I find more comfortable and Tim and Dom have that relaxing timbre in their voices, too, it just melds better together to my ear. Kate and Ali seem to be interacting well with Tim and Dom, so its all good for my taste.

Just my opinion, others on here posted that they liked last week's banter.

This is from Ali Whittaker describing commentary and how she preps and she always seems well prepped:

The biggest challenge initially was having two conversations at once and just how hard that is. You have to listen not only to the other commentators but also the direction you’re getting in your ear from the producers about what else might be happening on course. It can be quite full-on at times.

In terms of preparation it is completely different depending on whether I’m on course or in the box. If I’m on course I’ll tailor my research around the three players I am going to be following the next day whereas in the box, to do the job well, you need to have two or three interesting facts on every player in the field.

If I’m on course I’ll try and head out and walk the course at around 7am, see where all the pin positions are so that I’ll have an understanding of what the putt is going to do even if I might be 20 metres away.

I’ll also go to the range a lot and watch what drills players are doing which helps you to paint the picture of their full day as well.

In the box, I keep quite a detailed spreadsheet on all the players so I’ll always have that with me on my laptop but I’m also known for plastering the walls with stats. It’s a redecorating process and it changes every day. Because while it’s great to do your research, if you can’t find it within 10 seconds there’s no point in having it.

A word we often use in commentary is discipline. I probably only use 5 per cent of the research that I do for every week and working out when to add that into the conversation and when to have some banter is really important.

@Rapidcat Given the above... i suspect you might enjoy this article re the research prep that good commentators ensure they do!

An on fire round.  She is certainly trending hot.  Lets see how she backs it up

Would like to see her get it done and win something like this.

How strong is the LPGA Tour now? So many good players that can win plus so many great swings.

Big fan of Esther, an exciting golfer who can really charge.

Hmmm, I didn't realize that they had moved the tournament to the Wildfire resort in Phoenix, previous home of the Valley Birdiefest. A player shoots 5 under, and they're T17? Give me Sentosa.

Like I said, if you don't open with 67 (-5), you're probably not winning.  Averaging 67 each round would give you a shot Sunday, looks the winning score could reach the mid 20's, so looks like you'll have to average 65's each round to have a chance lol.  While this is definitely a birdifest, being out of position here does seem to present some risks (I saw a few doubles yesterday), unlike Phoenix and Green Bays that were basically "drop your scoring average by two shots" type of events lol
