Sub70 659 Irons

I know they've been mentioned in the massive Sub70 thread, but since they haven't been released yet, it feels like they should be here.

 

The CB looks amazing. It looks like a Bridgestone J40 with pocket cavities.

To me they look like a srixon.

That means they have my approval stamp.

I think they look great. Eye pleasing, pretty simple. I mean why can’t more irons have these looks? Why all the dumb plastic badges and junk.. Just produce a forged iron with simple looks that produces, easy!

Jason Hiland at Sub70 does an unbelievable job. Is really doing an incredible job. These irons will no doubt be very successful.

Perfect timing been wanting to get into a new set of irons and Sub 70 has had my eye for a while. Hope the CB line has more modern lofts. The stock

lofts have been all over depending on the club head and have been deterring me. Hope for some consistency in the MB and CB lines.

I would consider the following modern lofts.

PW - 46*

7I - 34*

4I - 24*

Those are ideal. But it seems like clubmakers love the 32 and stronger 7 irons.

The 659CB lofts (Below) look much better that the 639CB and seeing that they are consistent through the 3 lines coming out that is a nice relief.

The only difference in loft is the PW is a degree weaker…

Can we all give it up for sub 70 keeping lofts and lengths the same through all the sets. So much better to combo.

 

I have(and love) the TAiii irons. I can now easily throw some of these in the long irons if I so choose.

on the fence on this new 659tc iron and the new level 903pd.   have not hit from either company.   i think both will be awesome, but to those that may have hit both brands in the past, any idea which you feel may be a softer feeling forged?

they use dt4 in a couple of their wedges.  says it is slightly softer than 1020

New Level 902 PD is 1020 steel, same thing Mizuno and many others use. The same size head with slightly different geometry and CG vs the NL 623CB, which is the one I play.
 

To me the New Levels feel more like Miura’s, kind of a dense, powerful feel, but no harshness. Very high quality forgings. Softness is quite subjective and I am not real sensitive to it, but I definitely love the feel of New Levels. I’ve never heard any other company say DT4 is softer than 1020. Seems like if that were the case, Endo and Miura and Mizuno would be using it.

Im looking to say F it and order a set of the Ta's. Play zx7s and love them but those TAs look badass. How are TAs in forgiveness?

I’m not sure that they are forgiving, but they are easy to hit for blades.
