I've tried plenty of other irons but for me nothing has the overall look and playability with forgiveness that the TM TP CB 2005 irons have. Thin top line, perfect leading edge, little offset and they are extremely long lasting both on the outer surface and the face.

Still stick with customised fitted Titleist 695cb irons. Very happy with them. No reason for me to change. May be perhaps new shafts x 100 or project x 6.0 due to increased swingspeed. Won´t go for AP2 or ZB / ZM.

I just happen to buy a new set, just because my previous clubs were a set of 12 years old Yonex ADX Tour graphite shaft. Should I had a 2 to 5 year old clubs, I would listen to Tom Wishon and definitely not pay for useless technology...

Still playing Mizuno MX-20's. Bought them new and never found a reason to get anything new. They do everything I could ask and feel so sweet. I've considered the 23's and 25's but so far held off the temptation.

I play the MP 33's and like them better than the new 32s and 67s. They are more of a blade and i find them easier to hit.

I'm still banging around a set of Ping eyes, though I may upgrade to the eye2s. Have tried lots of irons, but still shot about the same score. Due to other obligations, my playing time is down, so I sold all the other sets. Only draw back is when there is dew on the ground, as the wedge has almost no grooves left. Can anyone say flyer?

I really miss having the OEMs only come out with new stuff when there is a performance reason/benefit rather than a business/marketing cycle reason. Ping is now guilty of this too.

 

Unfortunately, I can now only buy Ping irons that suit my game on ebay as the current Ping iron product line focuses on super game improvement (G10/Rapture) and players clubs (i10/s57). They have left the mid handicapper (that played the eye2/i3/i5) completely twisting in the wind.

 

Occasionally, I think about new irons and the Mizuno MP-52 always come to mind as they are are quite attactive. However, everytime I think I might want to have a shiney new set of these in my bag, I go to the range and demo a set side by side with my i3+'s and I realized I just don't have the game to play forged clubs.

 

Self knowledge is the key to success and enjoyment of golf.

 

Ping i3+ irons, there is no substitute.

Ive played Callaway X-16's for the last two years, and TM Burner Tour (old bronze look) for some time before. This coming season will be the first year I will play Brand New clubs. Even though the TP's have been out for some years.

Last 4 years and still loving them- Wilson Fi5 forged Irons, Combo Blades... havent changed shafts and am wondering when the shaft need to be changed ? Do tour pros change their shafts beginnig of every year ?

 

Before these I played Clevelend Ta3's irons. Had those for 3 years.

 

Since changing to No Offset style irons, all the slightly offset clubs I try, just dont sit well for me. You can buy the discontinued Fi5 set now for $350.00.

They are right at 2 years old, but I switch out i5's and G5's in and out of my bag. Love'em and don't see any reason to switch.

I am playing the TM R7TP's they have been out just alittle over 2 years and i bought them when they were released. Love the feel and confidence they give me, waiting another couple years before even looking at new irons.

TM 300 irons for me. I can't find anything better other than a set of MP32 I sold 2 years ago that I wish I had not.

I'm still playing my tried and true high school (class of 2000) setup; the Callaway X-14 Pro Series irons. They are a very solid player's club with tons of forgiveness (which I need at this point in time). While in college, I only played blades. In fact, I still have my 990Bs and my MP-14s, however, I don't play anywhere near as much as I used to and I need all of the forgiveness I can get. When I moved to California, from Ohio, I only brought my 990Bs with me. After getting back into the sport after 4 years, I had my parents mail my clubs from my high school days (the X-14 PS) and I've been swinging them ever since. With all of the advancements in golf club technology, I've definitely looked into purchasing a more modern set of sticks. However, I'm very pleased with the performance of my old clubs. After some new grips, they were pretty much in excellent condition. Aesthetically, they are about a 9.1/10 and mentally they are right on point. So why fix what's not broken? I'm not in any rush to change them out anytime in the near future.

Mizuno MP60. It will be in the bag for at least another 2-3 seasons. In fact other than my wedges (until they wear) all my clubs will stay the way it is as shown in my signature.

Yeah, when I moved to Conn I my handicap was 5.4 and I was playing to it. I was hitting Mizuno MP37s or my Cleveland TA1s. After one long, hard winter I couldn't hit it straight with any club in the bag. 5+ months off was just too much for me. My brother was playing Hogan Apex Edge Pros so I found a mint set on eBay for $175. That was 18 mos. ago and I still like them. A little bigger than I like, but workable and a little more forgiving. I think the FTX are a better player's set, but these were good clubs. Too bad Hogan is going to disappear. Have my handicap back to a respectable 8 and am moving to San Diego in June! I'll be getting a new set of blades and actually be able to hit them!! The weather in New England blows.

I changed back to a previous set of Titleists late last year after six or seven years with the same thing. Essentially, they're just a variation of the same stuff I've been playing with for twenty-odd years.

 

If you're a blade player, there's very little in the way of technological advance in the last twenty years - so even my eight or nine year old irons are still viable and do you no harm from a performance standpoint.

Playing TM R7 Forged Japan although they might not be 2 years old yet!! I think they came out early 07?

Playing Taylormade 300 Forged irons for the last 6 years. I like the length of the blade, a bit longer than most forged irons. These irons set up with minimal offset, which I'm used to now. The irons have a bit of cavity to help out, but can still work the ball if needed. Easy to hit low shots when required.

 

Ive tried some other irons such as TM TP forged cavities from 2006 and didnt hit them any better than the 300's. Also have tried Mizuno MP-30 and I like the way the short irons look compared to the Mizunos.
