Anyone still playing irons model year 2yrs or older?

I play the Cleveland CG1 irons, can't find much that sets up like them at address, beautiful. I'm looking forward to the CG Tour blades, the sloightly sharper toe will be nice, like black pearl but not obviously....

I switched from my set of Lynx Parallax, which I've played since 1994, to Bridgestone J33 CB's for a few months last year to a set of Taylor Made 300's this past winter. As far as irons, there's not nearly as much of a difference as with drivers.

still playing my callaway x14's..got them about 6 months after they came out..have re-gripped them once and they have had a lot of use but should get a lot more yrs use out of them..also still usung my great big bertha hawkeye irons(1st model)..these are two sets of irons i dont think i will ever part with..

I am playing mizuno mp-29 because I never been able to find anything else I feel comfortable with. These just seem to suit my swing but they will definitely let you know when you put a

bad swing on it.

Eye 2's - Every time I take them out of the bag they find a way back. I am using my G5 3 and 4 irons. My answer to a hybrid. I have managed to keep my Bullseye putter out for a few rounds.

I've been playing Srixon 302's for 6 yrs after getting them in Japan as a new release at one of the bases for the military. Haven't wanted to change but the 57's or ap2's are a possibility.

I still bag the Gauge Design NC-1s. It's been difficult to find an iron that provides the feel and forgiveness of these.....searching now, hoping to find something soon.

If you play blades or musclebacks then the current oem offerings are no better or worse than stuff offered many many moons ago.

If you play game improvement than you can just look at fact some pro's still play the ping eyes from many many moons ago.

Some decent game improvements around 5 or so years ago and thats it for manufacturers. Some small advancements in driver technology but thats it. Its over.

From here on in, especially due to fact that MOI limits in place etc it will be smoke and mirrors from now on for anyone to try and take your money for new clubs. I mean car manufacturers keep increasing size and features until a smaller category resembles a larger category. i.e. keep increasing the altima in size features and performance and voila it is actually a maxima now, or close to it.

Unfortunately club head size can't increase, MOI in place etc, its done.

 

I play callaway fusions. They were a best in show in reviews the yr they came out. Then a yr later and even the 3rd yr of play they were still showing up in best of the lot reviews. I looked at the new one's side by side with mine. A salesperson saw me doing it, looked over my shoulder and said "boy...not much difference is there?...no reason to change". His own words.

 

Look at reviews from a couple years ago and go ebay shopping and get quality stuff at bargain pricing...save..save...save.....I feel sorry for the future of manufacturers..................

Titleist 690.cb's, got um brand new in 2005 for $400. Family member was CFO of a nationally known sporting goods company. I can't see paying 9 big or a thou for a set of sticks. I've haf made Titleist SW (tri spec copper) since '01, grooves still good especially after buying one of willy's tools for the grooves.

I play my 2nd set once every 5 rounds or so.

They are about 15 yrs old, Yonex ADX tour irons with graphite shafts (still feel like butta).

When I bought my current set they came with steel shafts and I found out pretty quickly that my elbows can no longer handle steel shafts(tendonitus).

I am playing Callaway X-16's. I am looking to see if I want to get new clubs. The only issue i have with them is the degree of offset. As my swing has improved, i need the offset less to create a draw and the offset is actually hurting me slightly. Otherwise i am pretty happy with them.

playing taylormade 05 rac forged tp's. been playing them over a year now. i'm still using these because i haven't seen anything offered these days that fits my eye as nicely as these do. i'd like to be playing some mizuno's for the softer feel...maybe 57's or 60's, but in my opinion, there's nothing particular that will motivate me about the mizuno's enough to make me switch. i'm happy with my irons right now...

TourStage Z101's. On and off for about 18 months and on permanently for the last 18 months. Haven't found another set that looks as good, feels as soft and solid and is as forgiving while being so workable. Truly the best of all worlds for me.

Tourstage MR 23 CB US Spec. Best feeling iron I've ever hit and has a blade-like appearance at address. Before I put these in the bag about a year and a half ago, I had Hogan Apex blades (98 model).

2 years Ha, try 27 years. I dont own a set of irons newer then 1999. The irons in my bad are 1981 tour model's. I love my iron sets, and there all in great shape.

Playing the TM 300 Forged / Miura's w/rifle flighted shafts... a true classic that won't go away - the best of both worlds, a quality forged cavity back. Tourstage MR 23 CBs run a very close second.

um, I play MP-14s there pretty old. 10+ years.

 

Why? because they are awesome out of the rough, and have great feell on good shots, and the sweetspot is pretty big for a blade, I would say its pretty close to an MP-32.
