"Last weekend Saudi Arabia held a mass execution of 81 people in a single day."

At some point, the morals have to triumph over the commas in a player's bank account.

In all seriousness, my price for executing 81 people that I don’t know is pretty low. I get what you are saying and I respect it, but nearly everyone will not consider it.

Well it’s fish or cut bait time for lots of players and Monahan.

Time too for Phil to show his true colors. Probably been in deep convo with GN and the Saudis during his “self imposed” isolation.

Get more disgusted with this every time I read more about it.

Pumpkin Ridge can say goodbye to any more USGA, LPGA events.

Can’t believe they left Bushwood Country Club off the list.

Outside of money, ethics, international relations, and the etc...

I'd have to say my biggest complaint with this whole idea is how they are proposing to conduct competition. The whole "teams" thing sounds really stupid to me. 3 rounds of play with no cuts sounds equally as weak.

I'm just wondering who's going to be wearing the "He Hate Me" jersey.

to summarize, just a lot more golf tournaments that 99% of sports fans won't even be aware of

this won't come close to registering on the sports landscape, and I'm not really all that critical, just indifferent

modern day silly season with higher payouts, welcome to the Skins Game in August

and what's worse, looks like a lot of boring grab*** team events

everyone knows nothing can be done to make golf matter more than 2-4 times a year, just the inherent nature of the sport from an entertainment consumption perspective

There's only one golfer that could pull this off...Patrick Reed.

8 events all with purses greater than Tour Championship is a sweet spot to get top players since they can play those events and still meet PGA Tour minimums.  (15 events PGA minimum + 4 majors + 8 LIV = good

life).  Where is the revenue?  Where is the TV contract?  If Saudis are in for the long haul it will eventually come.

Remember when “invitationals” mattered and those were the only big money events?  The other small events on tour had low purses and got low star power.  Then the tour got fat TV contracts and now even the Jeld Wens of the world are big money tournaments.  But that’s about to blow up.

This isn’t a threat to the Tour overall, but it will make an impact.  For the kind of money they are throwing around it’s not going away.

PGA Tour is going back to the haves and have nots of tournaments as the bottom half can’t draw the names and sponsors rebel.  Then the next TV contract will go down.  I dare say, Greg finally got the backing he needs to stick it to the tour.

Good life for the top 50.  Get paid big money, play less, and still go after majors.

It's a money grab, Pumpkin was told years ago they would never host a meaningful PGA tournament due to lack of hotels in the area.

In 1984, there were 3 super-regions of power. On the surface, they were enemies, the people all thought so.

But, they actually were in collusion and just staged all the geopolitical strife to keep the masses riled up and working with their heads down, and make and consume resources.

The “inner party” actually didn’t care or have any interest in a true showdown war, they were just keeping the billions distracted while they ate all the good food and got hot chicks.

Sound familiar? ; )

Thanks a lot for fogging up my rose colored glasses! 🤣

They're going to kick this thing off in London the week before the US Open?  Right.  So no one who is serious about winning the US Open is going to show up for it.  I'm sure it'll be a great field of all-world check cashers though.  Amazing that these people still haven't learned that there are things in life money can't buy.

Sorry but that might be ignorance ... the US open is limited number of players so yes those already in the US open will not show up for LIV but if your not in the US open which is a USGA not PGA event I am sure many will come for the $$

I remember a recruiter that called me for a JOB and I said nah they are good to me here his reply if your manager had to lay you off tomorrow he would have no problem. Well hence the whole group got the axe and the jobs ended up over the Pacific ocean nobody fought for the tech sector so loyalty is controlled by the high ground. It was just going to happen and nothing you could do about it. I see this situation in the same light they took sponsor ship from companies that shipped jobs overseas and looked past the laid off Americans. ???? so why did the PGA tour not exit  those sponsors? Now they want loyalty to save them ??

Greg Norman has sent letters of invitation to 250 professional golfers.   I think it's going to be freaking HILARIOUS when the events are won by magnetic names such as Tapio Pukkanen (#250) Frederic LaCroix (#233) and Hennie Du Plessis (#203).  Real headline-grabbers.

At some point, even the don't-care-about-money Saudis are going to say, "Hey, Greg, you promised us a return for our sportswashing dollar but this is a complete waste of money!"

Greg has a very extensive art collection that has no doubt caught the eye of the Saudis. I am almost 100% positive his collection was put on the line for this venture.

Given it's starting with English events I think we will definitely see Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Paul Casey at these events. I'd be surprised if a few other has beens don't turn up. Kuchar is famously tight and loves money, he'll be there.

It's phenomenal earning opportunities but to think the most average professional golfers are going to potentially make more than Rory, Rahm etc. is laughable. Big names will jump once they see how the legal wrangling pans out for the test dummies. Interesting times.
