El Cameleon at Mayakoba

Will be staying in Riviera Maya in mid April at a resort that allows "complimentary green fees" at El Cameleon.  Of course, the cart fee is $140, transportation $30 and rental clubs are $60.  My question being, is the course worth $240 to play or is it just so-so?  I'm on the fence about it as I'm not bringing my own clubs and have a Whistling Straits/Erin Hills trip about 3 weeks after it so I'll get plenty of good golf in shortly therafter.

Yes it is worth it. I was just in Playa del Carmen and I played three courses: Mayakoba, Iberostar Playa Paraiso, and Gran Coyote. Iberostar was fun and good value at about $180 USD. Gran Coyote was fine but way overpriced at around $300. Mayakoba was spectacular and I paid $275.

 

If I could do it again, I would play Mayakoba twice instead of Gran Coyote. It was really fun with very interesting holes, but not gimmicky and unfair like a lot of resort courses. If you play more than two rounds you should definitely bring your clubs.

I really appreciate it, won't be a very long trip so only have time for 1 round unfortunately otherwise I would bring my clubs. We're also doing some excursions a couple other days so that limits golf time. Great to know that the course was worth it, will make sure to get it booked now. Thank you!
