Oban is underrated.  I’ve never been able to get the Purple Kiyoshi to agree with me, but it’s the best looking shaft I’ve ever bought.  The Green Revenge looks pretty awesome too.  
 

The Kiyoshi Black on the other hand, does seem to work well for me.  I have it in a 9 wood and it just feels right.  
 

The steel shafts are awesome too.  I think a lot of people shy away from them due to the cost, which is understandable  given the comparable cost of graphite.  I am completely unskilled and I felt like I could actually command approach shots when I got them last year.  They just felt right and were consistent.

I can’t hit any club this year but obviously that is a swing problem and not the shafts.

We sell a lot of Oban, but they're not the best selling in the store.  They perform great, but they're not the most affordable.

Theres a few holdout companies like Oban, Accra, and UST that just refuse for some stupid reason to not just use R/S/X flex designations. Like we have to go to their website and decode their stupid lettering like 7F2 and 05 and M4. JUST BE NORMAL AND USE LETTERS.

And everyone should have a standard for what that means. Also, a 60x should weigh 60g…

This shaft looks great, and the profile is softish-mid with firm tip. Very popular profile. Only thing I don't understand is the weight like you mentioned. The 60-05 (X-flex) weighs 71 grams according to Oban, according to fitting software it weighs 75 grams.

Let’s be real. For most to drop over $300 on a shaft it has to have a lot of expose in tour player’s bags. GD, Fuji, Mitsubishi… Oban good or bad, just simply does not. 🤷🏼‍♂️ The only above average name I can think of that had one in driver is Furyk. Again, doesn’t mean it’s not a great shaft.

i tried a couple of the Obans when i did my fitting because i have always liked them but never had a chance to try them. I ended up with a Ventus Black but the Oban was like 2nd or 3rd on list for me.

Isawa was the one oban shaft I wasn't a fan of.  Extremely counterbalanced.  Of course they pick that one to upgrade.

Fair.  To your point, we sell a CRAP TON of Accra shafts.  They're also played on tour, but not widely.  To us, they just seem to fit a wider cross section of players and the pricing isn't obscene.

I am easily distracted by shiny and colorful things.  Oban makes great looking shafts, but can never get one to work for me.

I have seen a lot more Accra in pros bags than Oban, but doubt most outside of us here would know. Haha

I wonder when these will be for sale, and what the price point will be....? The Airburst was a miss for me, especially at the $700 price tag. Don't get me wrong : An extremely nice shaft, but there are plenty of other options at nearly half the price-point, that perform just as well.....or better.......for me, at least. I wanted to love it (I think to justify the price in my head) but I just couldn't find a reason that hit was "superior" to the other shafts I was trying last year. Here's to hoping the ISAWA GLD is more in line with the $350(ish) price point we were accustom to seeing from them

 

However, I am still long time loyal customer/user of Oban products. I currently have the Tour Limited in my 4W, and the CT 115 shafts in my irons....... Still remember having the GBB with an original ISAWA (Red) shaft, and it was a great setup for me. Played the Hashimoto offering, in a Mizuno ST200G, and that was still the longest drives I've ever hit.... although accuracy wasn't as consistent on that setup.

 

Regardless:  If the price is right, I wouldn't hesitate to order one of these to try in my driver........Although, it will be tough to kick the AD-IZ out of my current setup......typical WRX fashion - it never hurts to try and compare. If anyone gets a release / price point update(s) ; please post it?

Understandable, but these brands also place a larger emphasis on fitting. As a fitter, it can be tough to convince someone who's used to playing stiff or regular shafts to switch to a "senior" flex shaft, even if the data supports it. Flexes based on numbers or weights can help remove some of that stigma from the conversation and help people play what fits their swing. Just my two cents.

Does anyone think that shops like CC or others make more on their Oban shaft sales? I've never been into a CC but my local shop that's really good at what they do seemed to always push for them. I have one in my hybrid and love it but found it odd with how old the shafts are and hearing that CC pushes them as well.

My buddy did a fitting last year and they pushed Ventus on him (Ventus Black in driver and Ventus Blue in 3 wood). 
 

About 5 years ago when I did a fitting, they pushed Veylix on me in driver, 3-wood, and hybrids. Don’t really hear much chatter anymore about Veylix.

 

Guess it’s just the flavor of the month/year for CC 🤷‍♂️

This isn't ripping on CC, as I've had some really good fittings there.  I believe CC fits a lot of Oban iron shafts because they only fit indoors, and the Oban CT shafts have a unique shaft profile that works really well indoors.

Oban  hard to obtain  so  bit of exclusivety
